ground. If this is not possible,then
refuelsuch equipmentwith a portable
container,ratherthan from a gasoline
dispensernozzle.
• Keepthe nozzle in contactwith the rim
of the fuel tank or containeropeningat
all times untilfueling is complete. Do
not use a nozzlelock-opendevice.
• If fuel is spilled on clothing,change
clothingimmediately.
• Neveroverfillfuel tank. Replacegas
cap and tightensecurely.
V. GENERAL SERVICE

theengine(motor)running.Disconnect t he
spark plug wire, and keepthe wire away
from plug to preventaccidentalstarting.

their proper operationregularly.
• Keep machinefree of grass, leaves, or
otherdebrisbuild-up.Cleanoilorfuelspill-
age.Allow machinetocoolbeforestoring.
• Stop and inspectthe equipmentif you
strike an object. Repair,if necessary,
beforerestarting.
• Neverattemptto makewheel height
adjustmentswhile the engine is running.
• Grasscatchercomponentsare subject
to wear, damage,anddeterioration,
which could expose movingparts or
allow objectsto be thrown.Frequently
checkcomponentsand replacewith
manufacturer'srecommendedparts,
when necessary.
• Mowerbladesare sharpand can cut.
Wrap the blade(s)or wear gloves,and
useextra cautionwhen servicingthem.
• Do not changethe enginegovernorset-
ting or overspeedthe engine.
• Maintainor replacesafetyand instruc-
tion labels,as necessary.
