- ensure that all nuts, bolts and screws are
tightened.
In the event of an accident or malfunction, switch off
the machine immediately and remove the battery
pack.
To prevent accidental starting: Always remove the
battery packs before checking the chain tension,
retightening the chain, changing the chain,
eliminating faults and prior to every change of
workplace.
Remove battery packs from the machine. Wait until
all moving parts have come to a standstill before
making any adjustments, retrofitting, maintenance,
cleaning or before storing the machine.
Protect battery packs from water and
moisture!
Do not expose battery packs to fire!
Do not use faulty or deformed battery packs!
Do not open battery packs!
Do not touch or short circuit battery pack contacts!
A slightly acidic, flammable fluid may leak
from defective Li-Ion battery packs!
If battery fluid leaks out and comes into
contact with your skin, rinse immediately
with plenty of water. If battery fluid leaks out
and comes into contact with your eyes, wash them
with clean water and seek medical attention
immediately!
If the telescopic rod is defective, remove the battery
pack from the machine.
Transport of Li-Ion battery packs:
The shipping of Li-Ion battery packs is subject to
laws related to the carriage of hazardous goods (UN
3480 and UN 3481). Inform yourself of the currently
valid specifications when shipping Li-Ion battery
packs. If necessary, consult your freight forwarder.
Certified packaging is available from Metabo.
Only send the battery pack if the housing is intact
and no fluid is leaking. Remove the battery pack
from the machine for sending. Prevent the contacts
from short-circuiting (e.g. by protecting them with
adhesive tape).

5. Initial Operation
WARNING! Remove the battery packs .
Unintentional start-up can cause serious
injuries. The machine must be stationary.
WARNING! Slide the protective cover onto the
guide rail of the machine.
5.1
Attach / remove the telescopic rod to
(from) the machine (MS 18 LTX 15)
See illustration on page 2.
Attaching:
Push the machine holder (5) as shown until the stop
onto the battery pack attachment (4) of the
machine. Screw in the locking screw (6) completely
and tighten.
WARNING! Before commissioning and
regularly during operation: Check that the
locking screw (6) is tightened well to prevent
serious injury.
Removal:
Unscrew the locking screw (6) as far as possible.
Press the battery pack release (3) button and pull
the machine holder (5) downwards.
5.2
Setting the length of the telescopic rod
See illustration on page 2.
1. Loosening the clamp: Turn the clamping ring
(7) in clockwise direction.
2. Setting the length: Set the desired length by
sliding.
3. Fixing: Turn the clamping ring (7) in counter-
clockwise direction and tighten.
4. Checking Check that the connection is securely
engaged by pulling on the ends of the rod.
