Installation Instructions
1. Install Board in Low-Voltage Enclosure. Consult enclo-
sure instructions to determine the correct location. Press
the standoff in the upper left hand corner of the board
through one of the orange labels marked "CC" in an
HWI-LV17 or an HWI-LV32, or press it into the small hole
in an HWI-ENC-CC. (A 1/4" (7mm) nutdriver can be used
to help press in the standoff.) Using the #8 x 1/2" screws
provided, attach the board through the remaining mount-
ing holes.
Caution - Minimize bending of the board during
installation.
Caution - Board components are sensitive to elec-
trostatic discharge.
Caution - All wiring must be in accordance with all
local and national electrical codes.
2. Connect Ground Wire. Using the #8 x 1/4" screw pro-
vided, connect the ground wire to the enclosure in any
convenient location.
3. Set Address. Set the address on the DIP switch to the
address provided by the HomeWorks Utility. Use Table 1
(next page) to determine the DIP switch settings.
4. Connect Contact Closure Outputs. Connect the wiring
to the contact closure output terminal blocks using Class
2 or better cable. The Normally Open (NO), Normally
Closed (NC), and Common (C) connections are labeled
on the printed circuit board. Table 2 (next page) provides
relay contact ratings. Note that motors, pumps, fans, etc.
are inductive loads.
Danger - Do not connect high voltage wiring to the
HWI-CCO-8. (See Table 2.)
5. Connect the Keypad Link. Connect the keypad link ter-
minal block into the HomeWorks keypad link using two
pair twisted shielded 18 AWG (1.0mm
Note).
6. Check for communications and power. Confirm that
the Link LED is on. If it is on, proceed to step 7. If it is off,
and no other LEDs are on, the board is not powered.
Check that the processor is on and that keypad link ter-
minals 1 and 2 are connected. If the Link LED is flashing,
the board is not communicating to the processor. Check
the connection at keypad link terminals 3 and 4 here and
at the processor. If the Link LED is not lit and the other
LEDs are lit, disconnect and then reconnect the keypad
link connection. If this condition persists, contact Lutron.
7. Verify IR (infrared) function (if used). The IR Talkback
LED flashes when any IR signal is detected. The IR Valid
LED flashes momentarily when a valid Lutron IR code is
received. A Lutron IR Remote (GRX-IT or GRX-8IT) can
be used to verify these functions. The IR input is provid-
ed for use with third party IR repeating systems. Attach
and secure the IR emitter directly to the clear ESD shield
using the cable tie holder.

8. The rightmost DIP switch (switch 6) is the mode
switch. To set the HWI-CCO-8 for test mode, put switch
6 in the ON or up position. While in test mode the push-

button switches will toggle the state of the relays with
) cable (see Wiring
each button press. The LEDs in the buttons indicate the
position of the relays. When the LED is off, the common
is connected to the normally closed terminal. When the
LED is on, the common is connected to the normally
open terminal. After testing is complete, the mode switch
(switch 6) MUST be returned to the OFF or down posi-
tion.
9. If relays work correctly in test mode but do not work
in normal mode, recheck the system programming and
the HWI-CCO-8 address.
