BLADE CARE
For best results, m owerblade must be kept
sharp.. Replace bent or damaged b+ades
TO REMOVE BLADE
= Disconnect spark plug wire from sparkplug
and place w_rewhere it cannot come in
contact with spark plug
, Turn lawn mower on its side. Make sure air
filter and cad3uretorare up.
, Use a wood block between blade and
mower housing to prevent blade from
turningwhen removing btade bolt+
° Protectyour hands with gloves and/or wrap
blade with heavy cloth.
+ Remove blade bolt by turningcour_ter-
clockwise. Usea 9/I6" box or open-end
wrench+
,, Removeblade and attaching hardware
(bolt, lockwasher and hardened washer).
NOTE: Remove the blade adapter and check
the key insidehub of blade adapter. The key
mustbe in good condition to work properly.
Replaceadapter+ if damaged.
TO REPLACEBLADE
• Positionthe blade adapter on the engine
crankshaft+Be sure key in adapter and
keyway incrankshaft are aligned.
° Positionblade on the blade adapter aligning
the two (2) holes in the blade with the raised
lugs on the adapter.
,, Be sure thetrai+ing edge is up toward the
engine.
• lnstaUthe blade bolt with the rockwasher
and hardened washer into blade adapter
and crankshaft
o Use block of wood between blade and lawn
mower housing and tighten the blade bolt,
turningclockwise.
- The recommended tightening torqueis 35-
40 ft+lbs.
IMPORTANT: Bladebolt is grade 8 heat
treated.
