Please carefully read the safety instructions and the user manual before using this product. Keep away from children. Use the
device only as specified in the user manual.
The kit includes: transmitter with attached alligator clips, receiver, earbuds, microUSB cable, carry bag, user manual, and warranty.
Charging the device
The transmitter and the receiver use rechargeable lithium batteries. Connect the power cable to the device and the DC adapter via a USB plug
and connect it to the AC power supply to charge the device.
Getting started
To turn on the transmitter, shift the three-position switch (4) to the upper position (Cable Scan).
To turn off the transmitter, shift the three-position switch (4) to middle position (OFF).
To test the battery condition, shift the three-position switch (4) to the lower position (Battery test), and then touch the battery contacts with
the corresponding alligator clips of the transmitter. If the battery is in good condition, the status indicator (8) will glow green. If the battery is
defective, the status indicator (8) will glow red.
To turn on the receiver, shift the power switch (12) to the upper position (ON).
To turn off the receiver, shift the power switch (12) to the lower position (OFF).
Detection and tracing of underground wires and pipes
1.
Clamp the black alligator clip of the transmitter to a grounding wire or to a grounding rod. Clamp the red alligator clip of the transmitter to
a testing item: de-energized electrical wire, shield of the coaxial cable, shield of the telephone cable, electrical wire of the irrigation system
controller, pilot wire of the gas supply system, or metal pipe, according to the purpose.
2.
Regulate the signal using the adjustment wheel of the receiver (10) to the high tone.
3.
Swing the sensor of the receiver (13) above the surface where the testing cable or pipe is buried. The receiver emits a sound when the
sensor is near either side of the testing wire or pipe. When the sensor is directly above the wire or pipe, the sound becomes high-pitched;
this is the peak signal point of the wire or pipe (approx.1–2 inches or 2–5 cm above the wire or pipe).
4.
Move the sensor of the receiver along the peak signal path to trace the cable or pipe.
The device is intended to detect only de-energized or low-voltage (up to 24V) single-core wires or parallel double-core wires; do not use
for multi-core wires!
Do not connect to the common grounding such as metal water supply pipes or metal supports, because they can cancel or distort the
reflected signal when detection and tracing of underground wires and pipes.
Detection and tracing of alarm wires, acoustic cables, or computer wires
1.
Clamp the red alligator clip to the testing cable (leave the black alligator clip unclamped).
2.
Move the sensor of the receiver along the cable path according to the sound signal. The closer the device is to the object, the louder the
signal will be.
Measurement of depth of the underground wires location
1.
Detect the "peak signal" position of the buried wire, see the description above. Mark the ground at this position.
2.
Place the sensor of the receiver at 45° to the surface of the ground and move the sensor aside from the wire path until another peak signal
point of the wire is found. Mark this point.
3.
Measure the distance between these two peak signal points. This distance is the approximate depth at which the wire (cable or pipe) is buried.
Detection and tracing of hidden wires inside the walls
1.
Clamp the black alligator clip to a grounding wire or to a grounding rod. Clamp the red alligator clip to the testing wire.
2.
Hold the transmitter with the alligator clips in one hand and hold the receiver in the other hand.
3.
Place the sensor of the receiver near the wall with the hidden wire at a corresponding angle and at a distance of approximately 5 feet
(1.5 m) from the transmitter.
4.
Swing the sensor near the target surface along the circumference until the receiver emits a peak beeping sound. To detect the wire
more accurately, lower the sensitivity. The closer the device is to the object, the louder the signal will be.
