X-RAY PROTECTION
Polo monitors include an x-ray protection circuit, which blocks the horizontal oscillator by a change in a
reference potential generated from pulses from the e.h.t. transformer via an electronic circuit comprising T107
- T106.
If, for any reason whatsoever, the e.h.t. exceeds the value at which X-radiation reaches a level of 0.5 mR/h, the
reference voltage on pin 10 of the line output transformer rises to such a value that it brings transistor T107 into
conduction. This condition takes the voltage on pin 4 of IC TDA2593 to 6 V d.c. thus blocking the output drive
pulse appearing at pin 3, and consequently turns off the e.h.t.
The circuit continues to block the oscillator until the fault has been remedied. In any case the monitor must be
turned off and turned on again before the circuit can be reset.
