If you prefer a more horizontal position (or simply
wish to change breasts for feeding):
a.
Place TIKAMAK baby sling diagonally on your right
shoulder. Hold baby in your left arm.
b.
Lie baby down in the sling. His head should rest
on the padded edge-roll, opposite to the shoulder
carrying the sling.
c.
Baby may be more at ease with his legs out of the
sling. In this case always check that his legs are
supported at least to his knees.
d.
If necessary, change the length of the adjusting
straps.
Snuggling-up position
From birth:
Snuggled in an upright position against you, this
position is particularly suitable for carrying baby after
he has eaten or should he have wind.
a.
Place baby sling on your right shoulder. Hold baby
against your left shoulder with your left hand.
b.
With your right hand, raise the higher edge-roll to
the height of his neck.
c.
Support baby with your right hand and free his
feet so that the inner roll-edge is just below baby's
bottom.
d.
Change the length of the adjusting straps so that
baby is near to you and the lower, inside edge-roll
supports his bottom.

As soon as baby can hold his head up, you can lift
him up so that he is seated in the pouch with his legs
apart.
His arms can also come over the outer edge.
Awake and Alert position
As soon as baby can hold his head up.
With his back to you and his legs crossed, baby is all
set to observe the world around him.
a.
TIKAMAK baby sling is placed diagonally on your
right shoulder. Hold baby in your right arm.
b.
With your left hand, prepare a pouch for baby.
c.
Hold baby with his back next to your chest, and
maintain him there in a sitting position.
d.
With your free hand, keep the pouch open and slip
baby into it gently, bottom first.
e.
Sit him cross-legged and lift up both side-rolls so
that he is well enveloped.

baby is held close against you.

Baby has grown... You can now place him slightly to
the side, nearer to the carrying shoulder. This will give
him more leg room.
Hip Position

As soon as baby can hold his head up.

Hold baby high up against your shoulder. Slip your
free hand below and up under the sling until you

Gently slip baby down so that he is sitting on your
hip, his legs apart, one on either side of your waist.

Pull lightly on the lower roll-edge, between his legs
and check that it comes up behind his knees.
e.
Lift up the outside roll-edge to just below his
arms (or pull it higher to completely envelop his
shoulders).
f.
Change the length of the adjusting straps to
prevent baby from arching backwards.
HINT: When your child can walk, you can carry him
in this position by simply slipping the sling over and
under him.
a.
With your child standing beside you, crouch or
kneel down on one knee near to your child, with
the sling placed diagonally over your shoulder.
b.
Slip TIKAMAK baby sling over his head until it is
down and around his bottom. Stand up holding
onto your child then repeat steps d, e and f as
above.
DID YOU KNOW? Children carried on their parent's
hip automatically spread their legs at the best angle
for the treatment of hip dysplasia. Furthermore, the
constant movement stimulates the head of the femur
as it comes into contact with the hip socket.
