Product Description
The SPCW220 is an alternative interface for the SPC 2Way wireless devices. Only
one interface is permitted per SPC system; the SPCW120 mounted directly in the
SPC panel or the SPCW220 mounted remotely from the SPC panel.
The SPCW220 comprises of two main component parts;
•
The RS422 interface PCB that must be fitted to the SPC panel (Fig. 5).
•
The remote transceiver interface module complete with a SPCW120 (Fig.
6, item 3).
The SPCW120 transceiver provides a wireless interface for the SPC
controller that enables wireless devices (for example, magnetic contacts,
motion detectors, and remote controls) to be enrolled on the system.
Opening the SPCW220 Housing
To open the SPCW220 housing:
1. Unscrew the two cover fixing screws (Fig: 4, item 2).
2. Open the lid through 90° to the right (the lid is hinged on the left).
Controls and Indications
Controls
For normal operation, removeJumper 4 (Fig. 6, item 4) and leave Jumper 5 (Fig.
6, item 5). (See also Fig. 7.)
Indications

Installation
Generally, the best location for the SPCW220 is centrally and elevated within the
protected building (Fig. 1). As buildings differ in construction & material, the best
location for each building can only be determined by site survey.
You must install the SPCW220 vertically as shown (Fig. 3, 4).
Installing the SPCW220 in any other orientation will impair the
performance of the antenna.
Avoid installing the SPCW220 on or near large metal objects
1. Disconnect the mains supply and then the battery in the the remote power
source (SPC panel or PSU).
2. Remove the lid from the SPCW220.
3. Secure the SPCW220 enclosure to the building fabric using the 4 mounting
holes (Fig.3, items 3).
Observe the "This way up" symbol (Fig. 3, item 1) on the SPCW220
enclosure. Mount the device in portrait , not in landscape orientation.
4. Open the SPC panel.
5. On the panel PCB, identify slot 2 to mount the RS422 interface board (Fig. 5,
item 1).
6. Carefully insert the RS422 interface board into the correct slot.
The SPCW220 is now ready for electrical connection.
Electrical Connection
Connecting the remote power source (SPC or PSU).
1. Disconnect the mains supply and then the battery in the the remote power
source (SPC or PSU).
2. Bring the connection cable into the enclosure through the access holes (Fig. 3,
item 6).
3. Secure the cable using the anchor points (Fig. 3, item 7).
4. Observing the correct polarity, connect the 12V DC supply and the tamper
signal wire.
5. Reconnect the mains supply and then the battery.
Your SPC panel is now ready to discover wireless devices.
For connection in Fig. 2B, link the 0v line from the SPC panel to the
SPCW220.

Tamper Connection
The tamper must be connected to a zone in the SPC panel. The zone type must
be Tamper.
Vanderbilt recommend that you assign a text identifier to aid in establishing the
location of the SPCW220.
The connection details are shown in Fig. 7.
Upgrade to an existing system
When installing the SPCW220 as an upgrade to an existing SPC 2Way Wireless
system, follow these steps:
1. Remove the SPCW120 from slot 2 in the SPC panel. The original antenna is
not now required.
2. Insert the RS422 interface board into slot 2 of the SPC panel. (Fig: 5, item 1).
3. Remove the SPCW120 from the SPCW220 and replace it with the SPCW120
from Step 1. (Fig. 6, item 1)
4. Remove the existing antenna and add it to the SPCW120 from the SPC panel
(Fig. 6, item 2).
5. Retain the SPCW120 from Step 3 for the next SPC 2Way Wireless project.
The devices that are already registered on the SPC system are stored in the
SPC and the SPCW120 registers. By moving the SPCW120 from the SPC
panel to the SPCW220, the data within these registers are retained, the
system is fully operational and is ready to accept new devices.
Compatibility Statement
This device only works with the Vanderbilt 2Way wireless devices and does not
work with any of the Si-Way devices.
