Instructions for use
Warning: Please read this instruction manual carefully before use!
The SIXTOL auto-darkening welding helmet is designed to protect the face, especially the eyes,
from sparks, molten spatter and hazardous radiation under normal conditions during welding,
grinding or cutting. The auto-darkening screen automatically darkens when the arc is ignited and
brightens again after welding is finished. We deliver the welding hood ready for use. Before use, it
is only necessary to adjust the headband according to the size of the user's head and select the
right degree of protection for the required type of work.
Preparation before welding
1.
Check the outer cover (screen) of the filter, the correct attachment of the cover and make sure
that it is clean and no dirt is covering the sensor on the front of the filter.
2.
Also check the inner cover (screen) of the filter, the correct fastening of the cover, remove any
dirt and protective films.
3.
Inspect all functional parts for signs of damage or wear. Any scratched, cracked, dented or
otherwise damaged parts should be replaced before further use to avoid serious injury.
4.
Before use, check that the hood does not allow light to pass through.
5.
Use the adjustment wheel on the outside of the hood to set the desired degree of darkening
(9-13). Make sure the degree you choose is appropriate for the type of work you intend to do.
6.
The hood also has a Grind mode, which can be selected using the outer wheel. In this mode,
the hood screen does not darken.
7.
Adjust the headband of the hood so that the hood is placed as low as possible on the head and
close to the face. Adjust the inclination of the hood in the folded state using the adjustable
spacer.
Note: The hood uses powerful solar cells as an energy source, and two 3V CR2032 lithium
batteries are part of the hood as a backup source. Thanks to this combination, the lifetime of the
batteries is extended up to 6 years in normal use. After this time, the batteries must be replaced.
Features overview
Darkening: On the left outer side of the hood there is an adjustment wheel that allows you to
darken or lighten the filter in the range 9-13 (DIN9 to DIN13) or set the grinding mode (Grind).
Lightening Delay: There is a Delay wheel inside the hood on the filter on the left, which can be
used to set how quickly the filter returns to the initial bright state (DIN4).
Sensitivity: Inside the hood on the filter on the left, there is a Sensitivity wheel, which can be
used to adjust the hood's sensitivity to light and the changes that occur when welding is
started. Use the minimum sensitivity (Lo) when welding at high amperes and in a brightly lit
room or in the sun. Set the wheel to maximum when welding at low amperes, in low outdoor
lighting. This setting is also recommended for TIG welding.
Test: There is a Test button inside the hood, after pressing it the filter will darken according to
the set values. You can thus test whether the darkening and lightening delay is sufficient.
