4. INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! Reduce possibilities of damage to the engine by removing the cylinder head
from the engine prior to commencing to work. The tap guide system included with this
set will reduce the debris into the cylinder and combustion chamber. Strongly recom-
mended: wear eye and hand protection when cleaning debris from the engine.
The repair might have to be necessary because the thread has to be repaired or otherwi-
se a thread insert has to be added because of severe damage has been caused around
the zone.
a. Repairing a damaged thread using a tap: this procedure can be carried out
on the vehicle, but ideally to prevent debris entering the engine the cylinder
head should be removed.
STEP 1 - Determine the size of the thread
that has to be repaired.
STEP 2 - Choose correct size of tap and insert guide. Assemble the set as it's shown below:

Make sure tools are safe, none around the engine and stored in a dry and childproof location.

1. Place the rod rightly
aligned and With the guide
pin already placed on top
(in the picture the guide
pin is already in the hole).
2. Place the tap and move
it until reached the top of
the rod, just under the gui-
de pin, then introduce it in
the glow plug aperture.
3. Place the spanner and
insert the back part of the
tap in the spanner's hole.

4. Place the knurled head
at the back of the rod to
hold the whole set still whi-
le screwing the spanner.
5. Using the spanner, slide
the tap carefully back and
forth in order to repair the
thread.
