Q Batten under battens
Lay the bitumen roofing felt (part M). Handle it carefully (preferably with gloves) to avoid
tearing it. First cover the 2 ends (front and back) and work towards the middle of the roof,
making sure to overlap each strip already laid. Then nail the fixing battens (pieces P) to the
edges of the strips, using SC1 screws. Fix the battens under the battens (Q pieces), using
SC1 screws, by folding the felt under the battens - see detail drawing. This prevents the felt
from tearing and provides a good underlay for waterproofing the roof. Continue by fitting the
fastening battens for the fascia board (parts W).
