INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
9.
Holding the filter upright (three-way stopcock on the bottom), push the Heparin
into the filter assembly and rock it back and forth to coat well, leaving Heparin
in place until just before filtration of blood component.
NOTE: If filtration is being done off of the sterile field, the filter assembly
should be transferred to the processing technician at this time.
10.
Rotate the three-way stopcock so that the off position is pointing towards the
60mL syringe and open the distal tubing clamp.
11.
Holding the filter upright (three-way stopcock on the bottom), remove the
Heparin from the filter by pulling it into the Heparin-labeled syringe attached to
the side port of the three-way stopcock.
12.
Rotate the three-way stopcock so that the off position is pointing towards the
side port.
13.
Remove the empty Heparin-labeled syringe from the proximal (top) end of the
filter and connect the blood component syringe to the open proximal end of
filter.
14.
Holding the filter upright (three-way stopcock on the bottom), simultaneously
push the blood component syringe and pull the distal 60mL syringe gently to
draw the blood component through the filter assembly and into the distal 60mL
syringe.
NOTE: Ensure a steady flow of blood component from filter into distal tubing to
avoid air from entering the tubing.
15.
Once filtration is complete, rotate the three-way stopcock so that the off
position is 45° between two of the ports (closing all three ports) and close the
clamp on the distal (bottom) end of the filter.
16.
While pulling back gently on the plunger of the 60mL filtered blood component
syringe, disconnect the syringe from the filter.
17.
Cap the 60mL syringe containing the filtered blood component with a sterile
syringe cap.
