Bed handle "FRIDA"

5.1 Dimensions and distances to be observed (based on standard DIN EN 60601-2-52)
Zone 5: Between Split Bed Handles - When multiple bed handles are used on the same side of the
bed, the space between the bed handles may pose a risk of head, neck, or chest entrapment. The
distance between bed handles should be at least 32 cm (12.5 in.)
Zone 6: Between the end of the bed handle and the head of the bed - The recommended distance
between the end of the bed handle and the head of the bed is at least 32 cm (12.5 in.), otherwise
there is a risk of trapping the head, neck or chest.
Zone 7: Between the head or foot of the bed and the end of the mattress - The size of the mattress
should fit the bed frame or base exactly. If the distance between the head or foot of the bed and
the end of the mattress is too great, the risk of entrapment increases.
5.2 Mattress properties and requirements
There is an increased risk of entrapment and resulting injury when using mattresses that are too
soft or too thin.
To ensure that the existing mattress is suitable for use with this product, test the firmness of your
mattress by pressing a fist-sized object weighing approximately 5.4 kg (12 lbs) onto the edge of the
mattress. If the sinking depth is more than 5 cm (2 inches), the mattress used is too soft and the
bed rail should not be used.
The thickness of the mattress should be at least 20 cm (8 in.).
5.3 Warnings, notices and exclusions
The instructions accompanying the product must be followed carefully to ensure that the product is
properly installed and assembled. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious injury to
the user(s) of the product.
The product is not intended to support the full weight of a person. This product is only intended as
a balance aid and support when sitting down and getting up from bed.
The bed handle "FRIDA" must not be used on children's beds, bunk beds, water beds or inflatable
beds.
Never attach the bed handle "FRIDA" to the bed, slatted frame or bed frame on the handle side.
This can lead to serious injuries to the user(s) due to jamming.
Regularly check the positioning of the bed handle "FRIDA" in order to detect areas of possible
entrapment at an early stage.
With electrically adjustable bed sections, make sure that you do not trap your limbs when raising or
lowering the bed.

Zone 3: Between the bed handle and the
mattress - This area between the inside of the
bed handle and the mattress, if too large, can
be a risk for head entrapment. The maximum
allowable distance is 12 cm (4.75 in.).
However, if possible, the bed handle should
be tight against the mattress.
