*IP Rating: Specifies the environmental protection the product enclosure provides. An IP
Rating of 54 denotes protection against harmful deposits of dust and protection against
water sprayed from all directions. The water resistance rating applies only when the
battery cap is installed.
KNOW YOUR LASER DISTANCE MEASURE

The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the information on the product and
in this operator's manual. Before use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating
features and safety rules.
LCD DISPLAY
The LCD display shows the measurement for distance from the device to the target surface,
with icons for calculations of volume and area.
MEASUREMENT FROM DIFFERENT
REFERENCE POINTS
The instrument has different measurement locations, from the front of the instrument, the
rear of the instrument and the auxiliary distance from the rear of the instrument. Icons on
the LCD indicate which surface of the tool the measurements are being taken from.
LASER ACCURACY
The laser distance measure is accurate to ± 1/16 in. at 195 ft.
LEVEL
A reference bubble level on the side of the laser distance measure allows the operator to
see that the unit is level when projecting the laser beam.
ASSEMBLY
UNPACKING
This product has been shipped completely assembled.
Carefully remove the product and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all
items listed in the packing list are included.
WARNING:
Do not use this product if it is not completely assembled or if any parts appear to be
missing or damaged. Use of a product that is not properly and completely assembled
could result in serious personal injury.
Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during
shipping.
Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily
operated the product.

OPERATION
WARNING:
Do not attempt to modify this product or create accessories not recommended for
use with this product. Any such alteration or modification is misuse and could result
in a hazardous condition leading to possible serious personal injury.
WARNING:
Do not allow familiarity with products to make you careless. Remember that a careless
fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict serious injury.
WARNING:
Always remove battery pack from the product when you are assembling parts, making
adjustments, cleaning, or when not in use.
INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK
See Figure 2, page 13.
Push the bottom of the battery cover in the direction indicated by the arrow. Remove
the battery cover.
Insert the battery pack into the instrument. Make sure the raised rib on the battery
pack aligns with the groove in the compartment. Be sure contacts on the battery pack
engage properly with contacts in the compartment.
To replace the battery cover, insert the tab into the slot on back of the unit. Press the
end of the cover until it closes. Make sure it is securely fastened before operating the
laser distance measure.
To remove the battery pack, remove the cover and pull the battery pack from the
instrument.
Do not attempt to use this product if the battery cover is not securely closed.
TURNING THE INSTRUMENT AND LASER ON/OFF
See Figure 3, page 13.
Press the ON/DIST key at the center top of the keypad. The instrument and the laser
will turn on.
The laser will turn itself off after 1 minute of inactivity.
The instrument will switch off automatically after three minutes of inactivity.
To turn the laser off, press the CLR/OFF key at the bottom center of the keypad. To
turn the instrument off, press and hold the CLR/OFF key.
MAKING ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS
To increase the accuracy of measurements, follow these helpful tips.
Limit the range of measurement to 195 ft.
Aiming at glossy surfaces may deflect the laser beam, and affect accuracy.
Colorless liquids, dust-free glass, Styrofoam, or other semi-permeable surfaces may
cause measurement errors.
Periodically perform test measurements, especially after extended use and before,
during and after critical measurements.

REFERENCE SETTING
See Figures 5 - 6, pages 13 and 14.
The default reference setting is from the rear of the instrument. To change the setting,
press the reference key on the lower left of the keypad until it shows the desired reference
point.
To measure from an edge: Fold out the stop bracket until it snaps into the first stop
(90°).
To measure from a corner: To measure from a corner: Fold out the stop bracket to the
first stop. Push the stop bracket to the left. You can then completely unfold it.
NOTE: When using the stop bracket as a reference point, be sure the setting is correctly
set to stop bracket (reference icon ).
After measuring from the stop bracket, press the reference key once to take a mea-
surement from the front edge. Press a second time to take a measurement from the
unfolded stop bracket.
Press and hold once to take another measurement from the default (rear of instrument)
setting until a new reference point is set.
Press and hold a second time to take a measurement from the unfolded stop bracket
until a new reference point is set.

Single Distance Measurement
Press the UNITS key once to turn the laser on.
Press again to measure and display the distance.
