The parts table alongside shows the volume of oil required, and the levels with respect to the oil filler hole for each model.
Make sure that no dirt enters with the new oil.
Following a period of prolonged intensive use, it is recommendable to change the oil in order to extend the useful life of the jack.
Important: An excess of oil to the volume required may render the jack inoperative.
3.5. Only use hydraulic oil ISO 13.
Extremely Important: Never use brake fluid.
3.6
When the jack is not in use, the screw, main piston and the pump piston should be retracted to avoid corrosion.
Apply an anti-corrosion product to the pistons, if appropriate.
Remove the handle from its position.
3.7
At the end of the useful life of the jack, drain off the oil and hand it over to an authorised agent and dispose of the jack in accordance with local regulations.
3.8
Both the repair kit, which exclusively contains the o-rings and seals of the jack, and the spare part sets must be ordered using the reference assigned
in the table.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
Important: Dirt is the greatest single cause of failure in hydraulic units. Keep the jack clean and well lubricated to prevent foreign matter from
entering the system. If the jack has been exposed to rain, snow, sand, or grit, it must be cleaned before it is used. The use of alcohol, hydraulic
brake fluid, detergent motor oil, or transmission oil could damage the seals and result in jack failure. Use only approved hydraulic fluid (type ISO
13).
1. When the jack is not is use, keep the piston and pump rods fully retracted. Store the jack on its base (in an upright position) and in a well protected area
where it will not be exposed to corrosive vapors, abrasive dust, or any other harmful elements.
2
Maintain the oil level at the bottom of the filler plug hole. If it's necessary to add oil, remove the filler plug, and fill the reservoir.
3. Visually inspect the jack before each use. Take corrective action if any of the following problems are found:
a. Cracked or damaged housing
b. Excessive wear, bending, or other damage
c. Leaking hydraulic fluid
d. Scored or damaged piston rod
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Repair procedures must be performed in a dirt-free environment by qualified personnel who are familiar with this equipment.
Trouble
Erratic Action
Ram does not advance
Ram only extends partially
Ram advances slowly
Ram advances but doesn't
hold pressure
Jack leaks oil
Ram will not retract, or
retracts slowly
Cause
1 . Air in system.
2. Viscosity of oil too high.
3. Ram sticking or binding.
4. lnternal leakage in ram.
1 . Release valve is open.
2. Law/no oil in reservoir.
3. Air locked system.
4. Load is above capacity of system.
1. Law oil level in reservoir.
2. Piston rod is binding.
1. Pump not working correctly .
2. Leaking seals.
1. Release valve is open.
2. Ram seals are leaking.
3. Pump check valve not working.
4. Overload valve leaking or not adjusted.
1. Worn or damaged seals.
1. Release valve is closed.
2. Reservoir too full.
3. Ram damaged internally.
e. lncorrectly functioning swivel heads or adj. screw
f. Loose hardware
g. Modified or altered equipment
1. With jack sitting on its base and ram retracted, bleed air by ope-
ning release valve and remove oil plug. Pump for 10 seconds.
2. Change to a lower viscosity oil.
3. Look for dirt, gummy deposits, leaks, misalignment, worn
parts, or defective packing.
4. Replace worn packings. Look for excessive contamination or wear.
1. Close release valve.
2. Remove oil plug, fill jack with oil to bottom of oil fill hole and bleed
system.
3. With jack sitting on its base and ram retracted, bleed air by
opening release valve and remove oil plug. Pump for 10 seconds.
4. Use correct equipment.
1. Fill with oil to fill line & bleed system.
2. Look for dirt, gummy deposits, leaks, misalignment, worn
parts, or defective packing.
1. Rework pump
2.Replace seals. Contact your USAG distributor.
1. Close release valve.
2. Replace seals. Contact your USAG distributor.
3. Clean / replace check valve. Contact your USAG distributor.
4. replace / adjust overload valve. Contact your USAG distributor.
1. Replace seals. Contact your USAG distributor.
1. Open release valve.
2. Drain oil to correct level.
