Check thatthe sparkplugwasherisingoodcondition andthreadthe spark
plug inby handto prevent c ross-threading.

Afterthe sparkplugis seated, t ightenwith asparkplug wrench to compress
the washer.
NOTE: Wheninstalling a newsparkplug,tighten 1/2 turnafter the spark
plug seats to compress t he washer. W henreinstalling a usedsparkplug,
tighten 1/8-1/4turn afterthe sparkplug seats to compress t he washer.
IMPORTANT: Thesparkplugmustbesecurely tightened.Animproperly
tightenedsparkplugcanbecome veryhot andmaydamage the engine.
Muffler
Temperature of muffler and nearby engine areasmayexceed150° F(65°C).
Avoidcontactwith theseareas.
Inspect m ufflerperiodically, andreplace i f necessary. Replacement parts
forthe mufflermustbethe sameandinstalled i n thesamepositionasthe
originalparts.
CleanEngine
Daily or beforeeveryuse, c leangrass, c haffor accumulated debris from
engine.Keep linkage, s pring,andcontrolsclean.
Keep areaaroundandbehindmufflerfreeofanycombustible debris.
Keeping enginecleanallowsair movement a roundengine.
Engine partsshouldbe keptcleanto reduce the riskof overheating and
ignitionof accumulated d ebris.
Donot usewater to cleanengine parts. Watercould contaminate fuel
system.Usea brushor dry cloth.
Carburetor Adjustment
The carburetor onthisengine isnotadjustable.

Visually inspectthe sparkplug.Discard the sparkplugif thereisapparent
wear, o r if the insulatoriscracked or chipped.Clean the sparkplugwith a
wirebrushif it isto be reused.
