10. Be very careful when mowing near bushes
or kerbs as these could distort the horizontal po-
sition of the cutting-means assembly and dam-
age its edge as well as the cutting means.

6. MAINTENANCE

6.1 SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

WARNING!
You must go to a special-
ized Service Centre or contact your Dealer if
the following are malfunctioning:
– the brake;
– the cutting means engage and disengage
functions,
– switching the drive to forward or reverse
gears.
6.2 ACCESSING THE ENGINE (Fig. 6.1)
Turning over the engine cover (1), you can ac-
cess the engine and all the mechanical parts
below it.
To perform this operation, you need to:
– position the machine on a flat surface, move
the cutting-means assembly to the fully raised
position and place some shims (2) measuring
about 65-70 mm under the edge to support
it while you proceed with the required opera-
tions;
. move the transmission release lever to the
«ENGAGED» position (see 4.23), as the park-
ing brake must be disengaged to allow the
speed change lever to be moved;
– remove the grass catcher;
– unscrew the lever knob (3) and shift the lever
to the «R» position;
– open the access hatch (4) and unscrew the
fastener nut (5) using a 13 mm key;

– release the lever (6) so that the cutting-means
assembly rests on the shims and keep it
moved to the side so that no stop notches are
engaged; now grasp the bottom of the seat (7)
and tip the cover backwards.
To close it again:
– check that the collector channel (8) is se-
curely positioned on the support (9) resting on
the right hand side;
– move the lever (3) to the «R» position and
lower the cover (1) to the same level as the
levers (3) and (6);
– insert lever (6) and then lever (3) in their seat,
and lower the cover until it is aligned with the
fastener screw.
WARNING!
With the cover (1) lowered,
check that:
– the collector channel (8) opening fits in-
side the rear discharge opening (10) and is
resting correctly on the support (11).
Next:
– fully tighten the fastener nut (5);
– move the lever (6) to position «7» engaging it
in the relative stop notch;
– remove the shims (2), replace the lever knob
(3) and the hatch (4).

6.3 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
