For the Mecatecno T12:
1.- Loosen the screw that holds the brake cable
using an Allen wrench.
2.- With the tire lifted, press on the brake pad until
you notice resistance when turning the wheel.
3.- Tighten again the brake cable. Check that the
cable does not move by firmly pressing the brake
lever several times.
4.- The brake can be adjusted more precisely from
the handlebars.
5.- Modify the brake pad position with an Allen
wrench if the tire does not freely turn without pres-
sing on the brake.
Mecatecno brakes are adjustable. For beginner
riders, the front brakes should be adjusted so that
they do not brake too sharply. Once the driver is
more experienced the brakes can be tightened.
5.5.3 Rear wheel
To dismantle the rear wheel:
1.- Make sure the engine is turned off.
2.- Unscrew the four screws of the chain protector
and dismantle it.
3.- Release the brake cable by turning the screw
that holds it in place.
4.- Release the anchor screw from the brake
cable.
5.- Loosen the axle screws.
6.- Loosen the nuts that hold the chain in place un-
til it is possible to push the tire forward and remove
the chain towards the right of the sprocket.
7.- Remove the tire by pushing it backwards.
To reinstall the wheel, this process should be
followed in reverse making sure the wheel, chain
and screws are properly in place. Finally, the brake
cable should be correctly reinserted in the brake
cable clamp. The brake can be precisely adjusted
from the handlebars.

5.5.4 Rear brake
REAR BRAKE HANDLING AND ADJUSTMENT
It is recommended to periodically adjust the band
brakes. Improper adjustment could cause a se-
rious accident due to brake failure.
5.5.5 Chain transmission
The Mecatecno's miniature electric engine uses
a direct propulsion system without gears. The
engine has a traditional chain and sprocket that
are protected by a plastic cover. The chain is not
affected by the suspension movements thanks to
the placement of the engine over the swingarm. It
is necessary to check and adjust the chain before
each outing to ensure it has only a little slack
(2mm).
To correctly adjust the chain, make certain the
engine is turned off and then follow the next steps:
1.- Unscrew the four screws of the chain protector
and dismantle it.
2.- Release the screw from the rear brake and the
axle nuts.
3.- Turn the nuts on both sides simultaneously and
at the same degree. The adjustment is very sensi-
tive and should not be tightened excessively.
The tire should always be properly aligned.
4.- Oil the chain.
5.- Put the protector and the screws back in place
and then check the alignment of the tire and the
chain tension.
To avoid potentially dangerous situations, proper
chain maintenance and tire adjustment should be
carried out. If not, the chain could unexpectedly
fall off the sprocket.
