"-40 dB", and if necessary in case of low volume to
"-30 dB" or "-20 dB".
2) Should the instrument signal be transferred directly
to an amplifier, connect the amplifier input to the
PAR. OUT throughfeed output (12) – figure 5.
Caution! The throughfeed output is not suitable for
connection of speakers. Overload hazard!
3) Connect the XLR jack (10) via an XLR cable to a
highly sensitive input of the mixer (e. g. mike input).
4) The UNBAL. OUT unbalanced output (11) can at
the same time be used with the BAL. OUT balanced
output (10). The output level of the UNBAL. OUT
jack cannot be changed by the OUTPUT LEVEL/
PHASE switch (7). However, the phase condition of
the signal can be changed. Futhermore, not too
long connection cables should be connected to the
UNBAL. OUT jack (unbalanced output = poorer
noise suppression).
6 Operation
When connecting the INPUT (13), the DI Box will be
switched on at the same time. Set the PEAK/BATT
switch (2) to "BATT" position to check the batteries or
the phantom powering. The control LED (1) has to
light. Should this not be the case, change the batteries
or switch on the phantom powering at the mixer.
1) For an optimal level control set the PEAK/BATT
switch (2) to "PEAK" position and turn the INPUT
GAIN SELECTOR multiple contact switch (3) clock-
wise until the control LED (1) lights up shortly during
the music peaks. Then turn the switch one grade
back.
2) Now line level (approx. 1 V) is at the UNBAL. OUT
output (11) and also at BAL. OUT jack (10), if the
OUTPUT LEVEL/PHASE switch (7) is set to "0" in
the right or left position. In case of a mixer overload,
the output level of this jack can be reduced by
means of the switch (7) by -20 dB. If the level con-
trol of the mixer is still too high, reduce the input
amplification by means of the INPUT GAIN SELEC-
TOR switch (3).
3) In case of wrong phase condition of the output sig-
nal (in relation to further input signals at the mixer),
turn the OUTPUT LEVEL/PHASE switch (7) to the
opposed position of the current setting (e. g. from
PHASE+ 0 dB to PHASE- 0 dB).
A wrong phase condition can be noticed by
means of too poor basses. Correct setting can be
done best by switching in alternate directions.
4) If the groundlift switch (6) is set to position "GND",
the ground of the input (13) is connected to the
ground of the XLR output (10). This switch position
should be chosen first. But in case of hum loops, set
the switch to "LIFT" position. However, phantom
powering is not possible now!
5) The Low and High Cut filters can be switched on for
filtering out blurs as well as for the "speaker" simu-
lation:
In case of impact sound, rumble or infrasound noise
set the switch (5) to "CUT" position and adjust the
frequency from which the signal shall be transmit-
ted by means of the controller (4).
In case of hiss noise and other high frequency noise
set the switch (9) to "CUT" position and adjust by
means of the controller (8) the frequency from
which the signal shall be cut.
