5.3.2 – Definition of terms used
When reading through this manual, the terms explained below will be used. Each time one of these terms is used, this will refer to the
characteristics defined below.
ADVANCED PARAMETERS (an operation which must only be carried out by trained personnel)
Entry, modification and recording of the parameter settings which affect the operating system.
MAIN PARAMETERS
These are the parameter settings which can be modified by the user.
STARTING CYCLE
The procedure for starting the engine. The following operations are carried out:
- activation of the petrol of diesel solenoid valve.
- start up attempts (programmable duration) interspersed with pauses (programmable duration). If the engine start-up is detected, the
starting cycle is immediately interrupted. If the maximum number of attempted starts (programmable duration) is reached without the
engine starting, alarm A13 will be triggered and the corresponding LED will come on. To clear the fault, press the RESET button.
STOP CYCLE
The procedure for stopping the generating set. The following operations are carried out:
- the generating set switch is opened
- the stop timer is set: for a certain period of time (programmable) the engine continues to run to cool itself down. After the time delay,
the petrol or diesel solenoid valve is deactivated.
In the case of an emergency stop, this procedure is carried out without taking account of the engine cooling time phase.
ENGINE RUNNING
The engine is considered to be running when the generating set has reached the voltage threshold set (programmable parameters).
If the generating set voltage exceeds the programmed threshold, the signal "engine running" is displayed by the corresponding LED.
ACTIVE ALARMS
The alarms are activated using a delay (programmable duration) relating to the "engine running" signal. After activation, the
corresponding LED lights up. During the stop cycle the alarms are deactivated at the same time as the petrol or diesel solenoid valve.
THE AFFECT OF THE ALARMS ON THE OPERATION OF THE GENERATING SET
As soon as one or more alarms are detected, they cause immediate opening of the generating set switch, stopping the generating set.
MAINS SUPPLY FAILURE
The mains supply failure signal appears when the grid voltage is no longer within the 2 thresholds, fixed during programming for a set
duration (programmable). In all cases, this causes the grid switch to open.
MAINS SUPPLY PRESENCE
Similarly, the mains supply presence signal is obtained when the grid voltage is within the 2 thresholds, fixed during programming for a
set duration (programmable). Closure of the grid switch depends on the operating mode in which the automatic control unit is set.
GENERATING SET SUPPLY PRESENCE
The generating set voltage presence signal operates in the same way as the mains supply presence signal. The time delay is
independent (programmable). As soon as the genset voltage is no longer between the 2 thresholds set by programming, the "no genset
voltage" delay starts (for 5 seconds – programmable time). At the end of the delay, alarms A7 or A8 are activated.
SWITCHING BETWEEN THE GRID/GENERATING SET AND THE GENERATING SET/GRID
A time delay is imposed (programmable - independent of the mechanical lock) to prevent potential overlap of the above.
