Tachometer PET-2000
PET-2000 is a pulse activated tachometer/hourmeter for
gasoline engines. It detects and counts electric pulses
produced at the time of ignition and processes the de-
tected signals into rpm readings. The unit also stores the
cumulative length of activates time in two ways (total &
temporary) for display in hours and minutes.

1. Hand-held, non-contact (fi g. B)
1.1 Press MODE key (4) to switch ON the unit. If the
Cumulative Time Mode 0000:00 or 0:00 is dis-
played, press MODE key again to set the unit in
the rpm. monitoring mode. (e.g. P21:42)
1.2 Select the position number that corresponds to the
type of the engine to be monitored, referring to the
Position Table.
1.3 Press SET key (3) as many times as needed until
the selected Number is displayed.
1.4 Press MODE key, and make sure the TOTAL
cumulative time reading (e.g. 0000:00) is dis play-
ed.
1.5 Press SET key to change the total cumulative time
display to the TEMPORARY cumulative time (e.g.
0:00)display.
1.6 With the engine running, hold the unit so that the
arrow (1) is at an appropriate distance (1cm ~20
cm) from the active ignition cable (or on a mul-
tiple-cylinder engine, from the spot where all the
ignition cables clustered). „Appropriate monitoring
distance" varies with the signal strength and the
type of engines being monitore. The engine's rpm
readings will continue to appear at 0.5 sec intervals
as long as the unit is held at the proper monitoring
distance.
CAUTION: Do not allow the unit to touch any acti-
ve ignition cables, or the unit's failure may result.
1.7 Move the unit away from the running engine, or
stop the engine, and rpm readings will cease to ap-
pear on the LCD, with the unit resuming the TEM-
PORARY Cumulative Time Mode as set in Step
1.5 above. To read the current TOTAL cumulative
time, press SET key. The unit will automatically
turn off in one minute.
2. Hand-held, with antenna lead
(fi g. C)
2.1 Connect the antenna lead to the unit as illustra-
ted.
2.2 Set the unit ready for monitoring, following steps
1.1 thru 1.5
2.3 Attach the other end of the antenna lead to the
ignition cable using the clip (6) as illustrated. On a
multiple-cylinder engine, put the antenna lead clip
on one of the ignition cables at a place where all
of them are clustered.
2.4 Start the engine, and rpm. readinngs will appear
on the LCD at 0,5 sec intervals.
