3. Equipment-mounted, with anten-
na lead (fi g. D)
3.1 Secure the unit at an appropriate location of the
engine or the equipment on which the engine is
mounted, using double-faced adhesive tape or
glue.
3.2 Connect the unit with the ignition cable with the
antenna lead as illustrated. On a multiple-cylinder
engine, attach the antenna lead to one of the ignition
cables at a place where all of them are clustered. To
boost signal strength, wind the antenna lead many
times around the ignition cable.
3.3 With the engine at a halt, set the unit ready for
monitoring following Steps 1.1 thru 1.5..
3.4 Start the engine, and rpm readings will appear on
the LCD at 0.5 sec intervals..
4. Cumulative activated time me-
mory
4.1 The cumulative length of time of the unit is activated
and stored in the memory in two ways, as follows:
TEMPORARY cumulative time count which begins
from 0:00, continuing up to 999:59, where it auto-
matically clears to 0:00 and continues the same
cycle, unless manuallly terminated. To zero-clear
the TEMPORARY cumulative time stored, fi rst re-
call the current reading to the LCD, then press both
MODE and SET keys simutaneously.
TOTAL cumulative count which begins from
0000:00, continuing up to 9999:59, where it auto-
matically clears to 0000:00 and continues the same
cycle. The TOTAL cumulative time stored cannot be
manually cleared.
4.2 To switch over a cumulative time display from TO-
TAL to TEMPORARY, or vice verse, simply press
SET key..
4.3 Some useful applications:
Keeping usage records of gasoline engines and
gasoline-powered equipment on a daily, weekly,
monthly, or other long term basis.
Using the stored cumulative time data for schedu-
ling periodic maintenance and over hauling.
Calculating equipment rental/lease charges on an
actuallly-operated time basis.
Notes and cautions
1.
Some engines employ a double-spark ignition me-
thod where the number of sparks per revolution is
two times that of ordinary engines. Since the unit
displays engines RPMs based on the number of
times it is activated by the electric pulses from the
spark plugs, it will give incorrect rpm readings that
are two times the actual rpm. To obtain direct rpm
readings on a double-spark ignition engine, select
the rpm monitoring Position No. by doubling the
number of cylinders, as follows:
To monitor rpm of a double-spark ignition type
2- stroke 1-cylinder, or 4 stroke 2-cylinder engine,
position no. to be selected should be P 22:44
.
2- stroke 2-cylinder, or 4 stroke 4-cylinder engi-
ne,
position no. to be selected should be P
21:42.
2.
When the antenna lead is used, try to avoid its
contact with metallic surface, which may result in
incorrect rpm displays.
3.
This unit resists rain or spray, but not immersion.
When exposed to water, wipe it dry promptly.
4.
Keep this unit away from strong physical shocks.
5.
This unit cannnot be disassembled.
