OWner/OperatOr
respOnsiBility:
The owner and/or operator shall study the product instructions
and retain them for future reference.
The owner and/or operator shall have an understanding of the
product operating instructions and warnings before operating
the jack.
Warning information shall be emphasized and understood. If
the operator is not fluent in English, the product instructions
and warnings shall be read to and discussed with the
operator in the operator's native language by the purchaser/
owner or his designee, making sure that the operator
comprehends its contents.
InspectIOn
Visual inspection should be made before each use of the
jack. The jack should be checked for abnormal conditions
such as cracked welds, leaks, and damaged, loose or
missing parts.
Any jack that appears to be damaged in any way, is found to
be worn or operates abnormally, must be removed from
service immediately.
Any jack that operates abnormally shall be removed from
service until repaired by a qualified repair service center.
If the jack is accidentally subjected to an abnormal load or
shock, it must be taken out of service immediately and be
inspected by a qualified repair or service center.
It is recommended that an annual inspection is performed
on the jack and that any damaged or worn parts, decals or
warning labels be replaced with manufacturer's specified
parts.
alteratiOns
Because of potential hazards associated with this type of
equipment, no alterations shall be made to the product.

SETUP
PLEASE REFER TO THE EXPLODED VIEW DRAWING IN
THIS MANUAL IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY PARTS.
1. Remove the 2-piece handle from box. Insert narrow
portion of top section (17) into bottom section (15) and
secure with bolt (16) provided.
2. Grease the inside of the handle yoke (11) and remove the
handle set screw (13) from the yoke (11). Insert the handle
(15) all the way in the handle yoke (11) until it engages the
universal joint assembly (18). Secure the handle (15) to the
handle yoke (11) with the handle set screw (13).
3. IMPORTANT: In most cases the jack should work normally
right out of the box but it is not unusual for air to get trapped
in the jack's hydraulic system during shipping and handling.
There are several symptoms of an air trapped hydraulic
system which include only partial incremental pump stroke,
jack will not lift load, jack will not sustain load or pumping
feels spongy under load. The following procedure will purge
XL-325R
air from the hydraulic system and only needs to be done if
experiencing the above mentioned conditions.
a) The #5 saddle should be in its lowest position. Remove
the four screws that secure the cover plate to the jack
frame so the oil filler screw can be removed from the
hydraulic power unit reservoir tube "E".
b) Look inside the oil fill screw hole. You should be able to
see the top of the power unit's cylinder. The hydraulic
fluid level should be no higher than the top of the
cylinder. Correct the fluid level if it is not at the proper
height. CAUTION: In order to prevent seal damage and
jack failure, never use alcohol, hydraulic brake fluid,
or transmission oil in the jack. Use hydraulic jack oil,
a light turbine oil, Chevron Hydraulic Oil AW ISO 32 or
Unocal Unax AW 150.
c) Close the release valve knob by turning the #17 handle
clockwise until it stops. Pump the jack against a load of
at least 500 pounds (225 Kgs). After the load is raised
to maximum height, slightly turn the #17 handle in a
counterclockwise direction so the load is very slowly
lowered, while simultaneously and quickly pumping
the handle 5 or 6 full incremental pump strokes. After
pumping, lower the lift arm to its full rest position.
d) Install the oil fill screw. Rotate the #17 handle in a
clockwise direction until tight and pump the lift arm
to maximum height without a load. If the pumping
condition has improved, repeat steps a) through d) until
all the air has been purged from the system. Reinstall
the cover plate.
OperatiOn:
1. To raise load: Close release valve tightly (by turning
handle clockwise). DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Position
jack under load so that saddle will contact load firmly
and load is centered so it cannot slip. Operate jack
handle until saddle approaches the load. Once again,
check to see that saddle is correctly positioned. Raise
load to desired height. Place jack stands of appropriate
capacity under the vehicle. DO NOT CRAWL UNDER
VEHICLE WHILE LIFTING VEHICLE OR PLACING
OR REMOVING JACK STANDS! Place jack stands
at vehicle manufacturer's recommended lift areas that
provide stable support for the raised vehicle. Once jack
stands are positioned, open the release valve VERY
SLOWLY (by turning the handle counterclockwise).
Lower the load to rest on the jack stands. Then, make
sure that the release valve on the jack is closed tightly
(by turning the handle clockwise).
2. To lower load: Re-check to make sure release valve
is tightly closed. Then, operate the jack handle until
the load is raised enough to remove the jack stands.
DO NOT CRAWL UNDER VEHICLE WHILE LIFTING
VEHICLE OR REMOVING THE JACK STANDS! Once
jack stands are removed, open release valve very slowly
to lower the vehicle. Lower jack completely so that the
vehicle is securely resting on the ground and the jack no
longer makes contact with vehicle.
CAUTION: Keep hands or feet away from the hinge
mechanism of the jack.
