36. Take special care in slippery conditions - on
slopes and uneven ground.
37. Work in a line across the slope and take special
care when turning around.
38. Watch for hidden obstacles such as tree stumps
and roots to avoid stumbling.
39. Clean the cutting head at regular intervals.
40. Check the condition of the cutting head at fre-
quent intervals. If the behaviour of the cutting
head changes (vibration, noise), check immedi-
ately as follows: Switch off the tool, hold it firmly
and bring the cutting head to a standstill by
pressing it against the ground. Then disconnect
plug from power supply. Check condition of cut-
ting head - look for cracks.
41. Be sure to bring the unit onto normal working
position before turning it on again.
42. Have a damaged cutting head replaced immedi-
ately - even if it only has superficial cracks. Never
attempt to repair a damaged cutting head.
43. Always switch off your tool and disconnect it
from the power supply before taking a break and
after finishing work. Do not forget maintenance.
(Plug disconnected!) Only carry out maintenance
and repairs described in these operating instruc-
tions. Any other work should be performed by
your dealer. Do not grease - this is unnecessary,
as this unit has been pregreased at the factory.
44. Inspect cooling air slots on the motor housing at
regular intervals for clog-ups and clean as necessary.
45. Only use original spare parts.
46. Clean plastic parts with a damp cloth. Do not use
aggressive cleaning chemicals.
47. Never hose down the electric tool!
48. Store tool indoors in a dry, high or locked place
and always keep out of reach of children.
Important notice - so your guarantee does not expire:
• Always keep the air-intake clean.
• Never press the cutting head on the ground,
when doing this you brake the turned-on motor.
• Never hit the cutting head on a hard under-
ground, otherwise you will unbalance and dam-
age the motor shaft.
6. Assembly
Mounting the protective cover for operation with
cutting disc (fig. 1 - 3)
1. Remove the 3 screws from the gear housing
2. Then loosen the hexagon nut of the drive shaft; take
care: it has a left-handed thread. Loosen it by turning it
clockwise! Remove the disk and holder from the shaft.
3. Put the protection cover on the gear housing aligning
the screw bores and fasten the cover using the
hexagon socket screws and washers. Tighten the
screws well.
Mounting the cutting disk (fig. 2 + 4)
1. Slide the cutting disk holder onto the drive shaft as far
as it will go. Put the cutting disk on the holder. Make
sure that the cutting disk is exactly centred on the
holder. It must absolutely not be in a tilted position. If
the disk has been positioned correctly screw on the
nut by turning it anti-clockwise.
2. Now block the gear by inserting the Allen key laterally
into the opening in the disk holder. Make sure that the
opening in the disk holder is aligned with the opening
in the gear housing.
3. With the gear being blocked, use a 19mm spanner
to firmly tighten the nut (applying a torque of about
25 Nm).
4. Remove the 4 protection caps from the cutting disk.
5. Keep the caps to regularly reuse them when
transporting or storing the tool.
6. The brushcutter has two-sided cutting surfaces
meaning that it may be turned around and used
further if one side has become blunt after a longer
period of use.
Mounting the handle (fig. 5 + 6)
1. Assemble the handle holder to the shaft, put the
clamps (A) over the shaft and fix the 2 screws.
2. Put the handle onto the handle holder, then put an-
other clamp (B) over the handle and fix the remaining
2 screws.
Tilt the guiding handle in forward direction until it is in a
convenient working position for you. Then tighten the
screws.
How to Assemble the Shaft (fig. 7)
Loosen wing screw (1) on the coulping sleeve (2), and pull
the knob (3) and Insert the driver tube (4) until the lock
button secured in place. Screw down the wing screw (1).
Attention: Before operation, the release button
must have engaged into the hole of the coupling
and the knob must have been tightened firmly!
Note: If the upper and bottom shaft cannot be completely
put together, turn the cutting head manually back and
forth. The drive shafts inside of the shaft are thus put into
correct position and thus the shaft coupling can click into
place properly.
Installing and putting on the shoulder strap (Fig. 8)
1. Put the strap on; the strap must lead over your right
shoulder (Fig. 8).
2. Hook the snap hook of the shoulder strap into the
bracket provided at the main tube.
3. Adjust the length of the strap such that the cutting
(fig. 1).
tool is positioned parallel to the ground, when the
strap is put over the shoulder. Determine the cor-
rect adjustment for the respectively installed cutting
tool by performing some test swings with the engine
switched off.
4. Never carry the belt diagonally across your shoulders
and chest, but rather only on one shoulder, so that
you can rapidly move away from the tool in case of
danger.
