3. HOW TO SELECT THE DIFFERENT MODES
You can select the desired mode by pressing the MODE button. Starting from standby mode, each time you
press the button, the different modes will follow one another in the following order:
a. 12V (10.5 - 14.6V +/- 0.25V) battery: standby mode → Mode 1 (14.4V 7.0A) → Mode 2 (13.6V 5.0A) →
Mode 3 Boost, and then the next cycle will start. Every time you press the button, the charger will
switch to the following mode and will execute it. If the battery is not disconnected at the end of the
charging process, the charger will remain in maintenance mode, even if you will select a charging
mode, in order to protect the fully charged battery against possible damages. (REMARK: if you press
the button for 3 seconds you will select the mode for using the appliance as a 13.6V power source).
b. 12V (14.6V +/- 0.25V) battery: once the button is pressed, the charge LED will blink and the
microprocessor will go on detecting automatically the evolution of the battery voltage for the following
1-2 minutes. After the battery is recognised, the system will choose the corresponding mode described
in point a. and will execute it till the battery will be disconnected.
4. CHARGING PROCESS
CHARGE LEDs – Group of 4 LEDs, labelled from left to right 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. LEDs 25% and 50% are
red, LED 75% is yellow and LED 100% is green. These LEDs indicate the percentage of the charge and when
the charge is 100% the charger switches itself to the maintenance charge mode.
4.1. RESET
When connected to the power mains, the charger resets itself automatically and remains in standby mode if no
other operation will be carried out by the user.
4.2. MODE 1 - (14.4V – 7A)
This mode is suitable to charge batteries with a capacity higher than 14 Ah in normal condition. Before
charging the battery, connect correctly (see connection instructions) the output terminals of the charger to the
battery and press the MODE button to select mode 1. Having done this operation, the corresponding LED 12V
will light up. In the next short interval, if no other operation is carried out, the electronic switch will switch on
automatically, the charge LED will light up and the charging process will start with a current of 7A +/- 10%.
If everything is ok, the charge LED will remain on for the whole charging process till the battery charger will
reach 14.4V +/-0.25V. When the battery is fully charged the charge LED 100% will light up and only a low
maintenance current will be supplied to the battery .
4.3. MODE 2 – 13.6V SUPPLY (13.6V – 5.0A)
This mode is suitable to maintain the charge in batteries with a capacity higher than 14Ah in normal condition
or to operate as a 13.6V / 5.0A power source. The charger is equipped with an overload protection (6.0 A
max). If output voltage falls below 4.5V, the charger switches back to standby mode. Remark! In this mode
there is no protection against polarity reversal. An internal 30 Amp. fuse is included.
1) Maintenance 12V batteries
Before starting the process of charge maintenance of the battery, connect correctly (see connection
instructions) the output terminals of the charger to the battery and press the MODE button to select the
desired mode, the corresponding LED 13.6V / SUPPLY will light up. In the next short interval, if no
other operation is carried out, the electronic switch will switch on automatically, the LED 13.6V /
SUPPLY will start blinking and the maintenance process will start with a current of 13.6V +/- 0.5V e 5A
+/-10%.
2) Power source
For using the appliance as a power source, press the MODE button for 3 seconds. After executing this
operation, the corresponding LED 13.6V / SUPPLY will light up. In the next short interval, if no other
operation is carried out, the electronic switch will switch on automatically, the LED SUPPLY will light up
and the appliance will start to operate as a power source supplying a constant voltage and output
current 13.6V+/-0.5V and 5A +/-10%.
4.4. MODE 3 – 16V BOOST (16.5V – 1.5A)
This mode is suitable to recover batteries with a capacity higher than 14Ah in normal condition. Before using
this boost mode to recover batteries, connect correctly (see connection instructions) the output terminals of the
charger to the battery and press the MODE button to select mode 3, the corrisponding LED 16V BOOST will
light up.
In the next short interval, if no other operation is carried out, the electronic switch will switch on automatically,
the LED 16V BOOST will start blinking and the recover process will start with 16.5V +/- 0.5V and 1.5A +/-
0.5A. If the battery is deeply discharged or sulphated, the LED 16V BOOST could remain lit longer than 3
hours while a special high voltage (approx. 17V max) is supplied to the battery to force a fixed current
