Safety information

Tetra has manufactured this unit to the current state of the art and the valid safety regulations. Despite of the
above, hazards for persons and assets can emanate from this unit if it is used in an improper manner or not in
accordance with its intended use, or if the safety instructions are ignored.
For safety reasons, children and young persons under 16 years of age as well as persons who cannot recognise
possible danger or who are not familiar with these operating instructions, are not permitted to use the unit!
Please keep these operating instructions in a safe place! Also hand over the operating instructions when
passing the unit on to a new owner. Ensure that all work with this unit is only carried out in accordance with
these instructions.
The combination of water and electricity can lead to danger to life and limb, if the unit is incorrectly connected
or misused. Do not operate the unit if persons are in the water! Always disconnect the power plugs from all
units in the water and from this unit prior to reaching into the water and starting work on the unit! Compare
the electrical values of the power supply with those on the type plate on the packaging or on the unit itself.
Only operate the unit when plugged into an earthed socket. The latter must have been installed in accordance
with the valid national regulations. Ensure that the protective earth wire is led to the unit. Only use electrical
equipment, adapters, extension or connection cables with an earthed contact which are approved for outside
use. The cross section of power connection cables must not be smaller than the rubber cables identified with
H05-RNF. Extension cables must meet DIN VDE 0620. Ensure that the unit is fused for a rated residual current of
max. 30 mA via a residual current-operating system (FI or RCD resp.). Keep the power plug and all connection
points dry! Protect the connection cable when burying to avoid damage. Electrical installations at garden ponds
must meet the international and national regulations valid for installers. Do not carry or pull the unit by the
connection cable! Never operate the unit if the cable or housing are defective! Dispose of the entire unit if the
cable is damaged, as the latter cannot be replaced individually. Never open the unit or its component parts,
unless this is explicitly mentioned in the operating instructions. Never carry out technical changes to the unit.
Only use original spare parts and accessories for the unit. For your own safety, consult a qualified electrician if
you have questions or encounter problems!
Attention! Dangerous ultra-violet radiation.
The radiation of the UVC lamp, even in small doses, is dangerous for eyes and skin! Never operate the UVC lamp
in a defective housing or outside of the housing.
Assembly and installation (Figures A-J)
Opening the unit (Figure A): In the housing (1), the unit head (2) is fastened by means of a bayonet closure.
Press on the engagement lug at the housing (1), turn the unit head (2) counter-clockwise and carefully pull it
out of the housing (1).
Installation (Figure B): Place the unit horizontally with its feet down, and fasten with two screws. Other
installation positions are not permissible! Position the unit at a minimum distance of 2m from the pond edge to
exclude flooding and such that it is not exposed to direct sunlight.
Connecting the unit (figures C,D): Tetra recommends hoses suitable for a minimum pressure of 1 bar. Cut the
stepped hose connectors (4) to suit the hose diameter. Slide the union nut over the stepped hose connector
(4) and fit the hose on the stepped hose connector (3). Insert the flat seals in the union nut, screw the stepped
hose adapters (4) to the inlet (13) and outlet (12), and screw hand-tight. If necessary, you can change over the
inspection window (3) and the supply hose at the two inlets (13).
Inserting the UVC lamp (Figures F-J): Loosen the self-tapping screw (7) until the the screw tip is concealed
by the clamping screw (8). Unscrew the clamping screw (8) counter-clockwise. Pull off the quartz glass (9)
6
including the O ring by exerting a slight rotary movement. Take care handling the quartz glass as it is very
delicate. Insert the supplied UVC lamp (10) in the socket at the unit head (2). Insert the quartz glass (9) including
the O ring (14) against the stop in the unit head (2). Tighten the clamping screw (8) clockwise up to the stop.
Tighten the self-tapping screw (7). Note: A safety switch prevents switching on the UVC lamp as long as the
housing is removed.
Unit assembly (E): Check the O ring (6) at the unit head (2) for correct seating. Carefully push the unit head (2)
into the housing (1) up to the stop while applying slight pressure. While doing so, slightly turn the unit head (2)
to ensure that the tenons and the grooves of the bayonet closure intermesh. Turn the unit head (2) clockwise
up to the stop.
Switching on, switching off (Figure K)
Attention! Dangerous electrical voltage.
Possible consequences: Death or severe injury.
Protective measures: Disconnect the power plug (11) prior to reaching into the water and
commencing work.
Never operate the unit without water flowing through! The unit switches on automatically when power
connection is established. Note: Switch the pump on first, then the UVC clarifying unit.
Switching on: Plug the power plug (11) into the socket. Whether or not the UVC lamp is lit can be checked
through the inspection window (3). Check all connections for leaks.
Switching off: Disconnect the power plug (11).

Possible consequences: Death or severe injury.
Protective measures: Disconnect the power plug (Figure K, 11) prior to reaching into the water and
