Assembly instructions
Note:
When removing and assembling the parts in the interior please note the chapters in the
workshop manual.
1)
Remove the dashboard cover and demount the interior panels
a) Remove the lateral dashboard cover and the access panel cover on the driver's side by
using a demounting tool. (Fig.01)
b) Remove the OBD connector from its fixation. (Fig.02)
c)
Remove the rear access panel cover and the C-pillar panel. (Fig.03)
d) Demount the panel under the ventilation left to the steering wheel. (Fig.04 & 05)
e) Lift out the boot floor and remove the panel of the boot sill. (Fig.06)
2)
Laying the cable harness in the interior
a) Connect the plug of the cable harness to the control unit and place the latter on the left side
behind the dashboard above the OBD connection into the free space. Fix the unit there with
cable ties or Duallock for it to not move.
b) Lay the cable parallelly to the original cable harness inside the access panels up to the
boot. (Fig.07 & 08)
Then, along the left side of the boot to the inside of the boot sill.
3)
Electrical connection
(Plug as in point 3)
Note:
The pick-off of the signals can be done using „current thieves". In this case, please use
only the enclosed parts or make sure that they are designed for the respective cable
cross-section before using your own cable connectors!
a) Connection of the 12V supply voltage (red) at the OBD connector
Pick-off: Data Link Connector Pin 16
b) Connection of the negative (black) to the vehicle mass at the OBD connector
Pick-off: Data Link Connector Pin 5
c)
Connection of the CAN data signal (green-white and green cable) for the speed signal
Pick-off:
- green-white cable at Data Link Connector Pin6 (CAN Bus High)
- green cable at Data Link Connector Pin 14 (CAN Bus Low)
d) Connection of the dimmer cable (blue) for light or dark LED on the activation switch
Pick-off:
- at vehicle mass at the OBD connector (Pin 5) for light LED
- at 12V supply voltage at the OBD connector (Pin 16) for dark LED
