07 | GROUP SETTING
When using more than one studio flash, you are able to set the studio flashes in 3
groups total: A, B and C. Each group may have different settings.
Assign the group directly with the studio flash. Please read the instruction manual
of your DÖRR DMX-600 studio flash to learn about the group setting.
The following settings are possible:
07.1 ALL – FOR ONE OR MORE STUDIO FLASHES
This setting treats all studio flashes the same way, no matter which group they are.
They will all flash in TTL mode. Press control key 7 (15) until ALL is shown in the
display.
Adjust flash power
Press control key 1 (9). The display highlights 0.0 EV (flash power adjustment). Re-
duce flash power with control key 1 (9) or control key 5 (13) to increase the flash po-
wer. The adjustment is done is 0,3EV steps (EV = exposure value, 1 EV corresponds
to 1 aperture step). Confirm setting with confirmation button (21). The flash trigger
saves the setting automatically, when no input is made for 5 seconds.
07.2 A:B – FOR 2 STUDIO FLASHES
Using one studio flash as main light and a second one as fill-light, you have the
possibility to assign the flash ratio for each device. Now the ratio of flash power
may be adjusted correlated.
Example
Flash ratio for both groups should be the same = 1:1. Should flash A have half of the
power as flash B set 1:2
Press control key 7 (15) until display shows A:B. Control key 1 (9) enters the setting
of flash ratio and activates the function. With control key 1 (9) you are able to adjust
the flash ratio towards flash A, while control key 5 (13) adjusts the flash ratio towards
flash B.
Confirm setting with confirmation button (21). The flash trigger saves the setting
automatically, when no input is made for 5 seconds.
Adjust flash power
Additionally it is possible to adjust the flash power for both studio flashes (A+B).
Press control key 3 (11). The display highlights 0.0 EV (flash power adjustment). Use
control key 3 (11) to reduce the flash power, while control key 7 (15) increases the
flash power. The adjustment is done is 0,3EV steps (EV = exposure value, 1 EV cor-
responds to 1 aperture step). Confirm setting with confirmation button (21). The
flash trigger saves the setting automatically, when no input is made for 5 seconds.
07.3 A:B+C – FOR 3 STUDIO FLASHES
This setting allows to use 3 flashes at least. The flash ratio is adjusted as described in
above mentioned chapter A:B. Additionally you have the possibility to use a further
or more flash(es) and adjust it/them separately.
Example
Illuminate the main motif with flash A and B with ratio 1,5:1. Flash C is used to illu-
minate the background.
Press control key 7 (15) until display show A:B C. After setting the flash ratio of flash
A and flash B (see chapter 07.2), you are able to set the flash power of flash C apart
from the ETTL setting.
Press control key 2 (10). The display highlights 0.0 EV (flash power adjustment). Use
control key 2 (10) to reduce the flash power, while control key 6 (14) increases flash
power. The adjustment is done is 0,3EV steps (EV = exposure value, 1 EV corres-
ponds to 1 aperture step). Confirm setting with confirmation button (21). The flash
trigger saves the setting automatically, when no input is made for 5 seconds.
