Battery Charger
A DC accessory receptacle is provided on the control panel. A battery charging cable
equipped with a matching plug for this receptacle has been supplied with the unit.
Charging a 12 Volt Battery
This generator can be used to charge a 12 volt automotive or storage battery by taking the
following steps:
Inspect fluid level of the battery cells. Add ONLY distilled water to any cell where fluid
level is low. Never add tap water.
1.
Use a wire brush to clean battery terminals if corroded.
2. Before connecting battery to generator, start generator engine.
3.
Securely connect the red cable clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal.
4.
Securely connect the black cable clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal.
5. Turn the Engine Economy Switch to the "OFF" position to start battery charging.
6. Battery is considered fully charged when the gravity of its fluid is between 1.26 and
1.28 when measured by a hydrometer.
Note: It is strongly recommended to check the gravity level of the electrode at least once per
hour with a hydrometer to prevent overcharging and to test the battery's condition. Be
careful to follow the hydrometer manufacture's instruction.
•
Storage batteries give off EXPLOSIVE hydrogen
gas while charging.
•
Do not allow smoking, open flames, sparks, or
spark producing equipment in the area while
charging.
•
Do not charge battery in an enclosed area.
•
Do not disconnect battery clamps while charging.
Battery clamps could spark and ignite if
disconnected while charging.
Do not continue to charge a battery that becomes hot
or is fully charged.

•
Always wear eye protection when charging
battery.
•
Battery electrolyte fluid is comprised of sulfuric
acid that can be very dangerous and cause severe
burns. Do not allow this fluid to contact eyes,
skin, clothing, etc.
•
If battery acid contacts skin, flush with water
immediately. If it contacts eyes, flush with water
for 15 minutes and get immediate medical
attention. For internal ingestion, drink large
quantities of water or milk, followed by milk of
magnesia, beaten egg, or vegetable oil. Contact a
medical physician immediately.
This battery charging system is intended to recharge
weak batteries, not to "boost start" vehicles. Do not
overcharge battery or leave battery unattended.
