8.1. Testing the Performance
1. Carefully fit the pipette/ tip onto the nose cone.
2. Pre-rinse the tip with distilled water by pipetting the selected volume
five times.
3. Carefully aspirate the liquid, keeping the pipettor vertical.
4. Pipette distilled water into a tared container and record the weight
registered in mgs. Repeat at least ten times. Use an analytical balance
with a readability of 0.01 mgs.
5. Compare the results with the corresponding specifications (section
12). If the mean value of 10 readings falls within the indicated range,
the XL is ready for use.
Weighing should take place at 20-25°C, constant to 0.5°C.
Avoid drafts.
The distilled water, weighing vessel, XL and pipettes/ tips must be at
the same temperature.
To calculate the volume, divide the weight of the water by its density (at
20°C: 0.9982). This method is based on DIN 12650-7.
