E. TILT ADJUSTMENT
ALWAYS lock the caster wheels before attempting to tilt the seating system.
The amount of support that is necessary for this adjustment varies depending
on the size and weight of the occupant. Sunrise recommends practicing this
adjustment several times before adding the occupant to the base.
1. To achieve up to 25° of rearward tilt:
a. Grasp the tilt handle (A) and release trigger (B) while supporting the
push handle with the other hand.
b. Release the lever when the desired Tilt angle is reached.
2. Returning to the home position
a. Returning the seating shell to a home or upright position is the reverse
of the previous instruction.
b. In some cases the caregiver will need to place their foot on the top of
the rear caster arm to support the base when returning the system to
it's home position.
F. PUSH HANDLE ANGLE ADJUSTMENT
NOTE - The occupant does not need to be removed for this adjustment.
1. Adjusting the push handle
a. Using both thumbs, press on the release buttons(C) at the same time
and move the push handle into position.
b. Release the buttons and check to make sure the adjustment is locked
in place.
VI. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
A. GENERAL MAINTENENCE
1. Clean the device regularly. This will help you find loose or worn parts
and will make your device easier to use.
2. At least every four months, check all screws for tightness. If parts are
missing, broken, damaged or worn, then discontinue use of the product
until repairs are made, using factory-authorized parts.
3. Wipe down all plastic components periodically with a solution of mild
soapy water to maintain cleanliness.
4. Lubricate any moving parts (except for the gas spring) with a teflon
lubricant only.
5. Check and clean the wheel attachment points frequently, this is a main
area that can collect dirt and grime. Debris in this area can effect the
performance and safety of the device.
The gas spring is charged with a gas to provide a specified force. If the
charge in the cylinder changes, the spring may no longer provide the designed
assist for ease of adjustment. The gas spring also has a built-in locking device
to hold the cylinder in a specific position. If the charge is lost or the lock
fails, the gas spring must be replaced by a qualified dealer or returned to
Sunrise Medical for replacement. If you find an issue with the gas spring, it is
not safe to keep using the device. Stop using the device until the correction
can be made. Never lubricate the Gas spring Rod. This could cause damage
to the gas spring and void the warranty.
