Maintenance and care

Due to the resulting vortex effect, the GRAF VS-Control vortex flow control shafts are very low-
maintenance.
As a rule it is sufficient to carry out a visual inspection every 6 months or after a particularly heavy rainfall
event. If blockages are detected, especially with small drain diameters, they can be removed with the aid
of a garden hose. For tenacious blockages, these may be pierced with an iron rod or similar. After remov-
ing the blockage, it must be ensured again that the orifice lies level and horizontally in the vortex flow
control shaft body.
Note:
In order to ensure proper operation of retention systems, sufficiently dimensioned filters
should generally be provided. These filters are located in front of the retention system in
the direction of the rainwater flow.
In special cases, multi-stage filter systems with coarse and fine filters are used to clean the
precipitation water.
The positioning of fittings or other devices which hydraulically influence the free water dis-
charge behind the vortex flow control shaft is not permitted. A backlog must always be
ruled out.
In the case of an unforeseen backlog, the orifice has to be placed again level and horizon-
tally in the vortex flow control shaft body.
