ORP electrodes
Storage and maintenance:
The ORP electrode should be stored in
protection solution—3M KCl solution.
When reference electrolyte is lower the half
full, refill 3M KCl solution through the filling
hole with a syringe.
If the platinum band or disk is contaminated,
this will result in slow response time or
inaccurate measurement result, should clean
the electrode as follows:
1. Inorganic contamination: dip the ORP
electrode into 0.1M HCl for more than 10
minutes, then rinse with pure water.
Soak the ORP electrode in 3M KCl
solution for more than 8 hours.
2. Organic contamination such as grease
coating: clean with detergent then rinse
with pure water. Soak the ORP electrode
in 3M KCl solution for more than 8 hours.
3. If the platinum is contaminated heavily,
use toothpaste to polish it, rinse with
pure water, then soak in 3M KCl solution
for more than 8 hours.
