6 CHARGING THE BATTERY

All safety information regarding the handling, storage, safekeeping,
transport, disposal of the lithium-ion battery and first-aid measures
and measures for combating fires is contained in the "Product safety

When is the battery charged

Before initial use
The lithium-ion battery has been partly charged before delivery. Fully charge the
battery before first use in order to guarantee the battery;s full power (see chapter
"How to load the battery").
If required
To check the available charge, press the battery charge display button (see
chapter "Battery charge display") and charge the battery correspondingly.
The battery can be recharged at any time.
Interrupting the charging process does not damage the battery.
If not used for a longer period
If the battery is not used for a long time, it should be fully charged every 2 months.

How is the battery charged (Illustration W1 )

NOTE
Slow charging protects the battery and extends its life (see also chapter
"Charging time").
Plug the charger into a 230 V socket W1 .
Slide the battery into the charger W1 . Ensure that the battery is firmly in the
charger.
The LED display of the charger shows the current charge level of the battery.

What to do if there is an error display
If the charger shows an error after the battery has been inserted, remove the
battery and insert it again after about 1 minute.
If the charger no longer shows an error, the battery is OK.
If the charger still shows an error, remove the battery and unplug the charger.
Reconnect the charger to the mains supply after roughly 1 minute and reinsert the
battery.
If the charger no longer shows an error, the battery is OK.
If the charger still shows an error, the battery is defective and must be replaced.
When the charger shows that the battery is fully charged, it can be removed from
the charger (see also chapter "Useful life").
Unplug the charger when not in use.
To check the available charge, press the battery charge display button (see
chapter "Battery charge display").
Checking the charger
If the battery is not charged properly:
Check the socket using another electrically operated tool e.g. reading lamp or
similar, which you know to be working correctly.
Make sure that the socked is not switched off.
Check whether the charging contacts have not short-circuited due to dirt or
objects.
