4. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
4.1. Routine maintenance
Proper maintenance will ensure the machine lasts longer and costs less to run.
Periodic checks:
1.
Lubricate with high bond grease the antirotation pins on which the rotor works
(item 13 in the exploded view) every 80 hours of operation.
2.
Remove the handle with the motor and gearbox at every harvest season to
remove dirty or old oil from the inside. Blow clean compressed air in the motor
to remove any residues from brushes, grease the gears and close the handle.
The above checking frequencies are indicative only and refer to standard working
conditions. Frequency may vary as a function of the way the machine is used and
environmental conditions (e.g. humidity, dust).
Maintenance work must be carried out more frequently where the rake is used intensely.
Before performing any operation, make sure the machine is off and the terminals are
disconnected from the battery.
4.2. Assembling and disassembling the comb
The machine is shipped with the combs removed. For assembly, align the markings on
rotor and comb and follow the images below.
4.3. Cleaning and lubrificating the machine
The machine should be cleaned at the end of season so as to prevent solid particles
and dust affecting the efficiency of the mechanical parts.
4.4. Storage
If you do not expect to use the machine for some time proceed as follows:
-
disconnect the machine from the power supply;
-
clean the machine: remove any dirt from its surfaces or any dirt in the midst of
mechanical parts;
-
check and, where necessary, replace any damaged/worn parts;
-
cover the machine to stop dust settling on it.
Carrying out the above maintenance tasks will ensure that the machine is in perfect
working order when work is recommenced.
