Zero point (fig. V/4)
After the warming up phase as soon as the device is
ready, the zero point is set automatically. That means
that the device defines the zero point from the ambi-
ent temperature in this moment. When the device is
switched in, you can replace the zero point manu-
ally by actuating the zero point switch 4. The current
measured value is then defined as zero point. If the
device measures a value below the preset zero point,
this is indicated by a flashing stand-by LED 6. In this
case replace the zero point as described above. The
range of values which the device accepts as zero-
point is limited. You can not reset a concentration of
1% by pressing the zero point switch 4.
Special functions
Switching off the alarm tone (fig. V/4)
Keep the zero point switch 4 pressed for a longer
time. After approx. 2 seconds the first red gas con-
centration LED lights up. Release now the zero point
switch 4. The alarm is now switched off.
If you want to switch on the alarm tone again, pro-
ceed as described above.
If you switch on the device anew with the On/Off
switch 3, the alarm tone is switched on automatically.
Switching off the stand-by tone (fig. V/4)
The stand-by tone of the device indicates that the
device is switched in and ready for measuring. You
can switch off the stand-by tone by keeping the
zero point switch 4 pressed for a longer time. After
2 seconds the first red gas concentration LED lights
up. Keep on pressing the zero point switch 4. After
the next 2 seconds the second red gas concentration
LED lights up. Release now the zero pint switch 4.
The stand-by tone is now switched off. If you want
to switch on the stand-by tone again, proceed as de-
scribed above. If you switch on the device anew with
the On/Off switch 3, the stand-by tone is switched on
automatically.

Power supply (fig. I/VIII/IX)
The appliance is supplied with electricity by two AA
batteries. You can use batteries (item no. 0827 02)
or rechargeable accumulators (item no. 0827 212).
When changing the batteries or the accumulators,
open the battery compartment 5 with the Allen key
supplied. The batteries have an operating time of up
to 10 hours. The illuminated low battery LED 8 indi-
cates that the batteries are almost empty. You then
should replace the batteries soon.
Notes for practice
Natural gas pipeline check (fig. X)
Since the main compound of natural gas is methane,
which is lighter than air, check above the lines.
Propane pipeline check (fig. XI)
In contrast to methane, propane weights more than
air. To receive optimum measurement results measure
beneath the line.
