This laboratory electrode is used to measure the pH of liquid, semi-solid, and solid foods.
„ Unscrew the protective cap.
„ Connect the electrode to the pH-meter using the cable supplied with it, S7-BNC or S7- DIN 8. Screw the S7 connector of the
cable to the S7 connector of the electrode.
„ Remove the storage bottle.
„ Calibrate the electrode with buffer solutions, rinsing with de-ionized water between measurements.
„ To make a measurement, dip the end of the electrode into the solution to be measured; make sure than the junction is im-
mersed. With a semi-solid or solid food, insert the tip of the electrode into the food as far as the junction. To avoid damaging
the electrode, drill a hole in a solid food before inserting the electrode.
„ Wait for the measurement to stabilize.
„ Rinse the electrode with de-ionized water or a suitable cleaning solution between measurements.
„ When the measurements are over, put the electrode back in the storage bottle.
„ Unscrew the connecting cable from the pH-meter and screw the protective cap back on.
To avoid damaging the electrode, do not make measurements in the any of the following solutions:
„ hydrofluoric acid solution,
„ acid and alkaline solutions at high concentrations (> 2 mol/L),
„ clogging solution (resin, paint, etc.).
