Before starting installation:
Check suitability of vehicle! The tailgate must
be free of any accident damage etc. Hinges,
locks and spacers must be as standard and
undamaged. Tailgates with traces of external
corrosion are not suitable.
The carrier cannot be fitted to vehicles with
roof spoilers.
Loading the carrier requires two people.
Note:
The rear rack is pre-assembled.
Fitting to vehicle:
1
Fig.
Open tailgate and fit assembly aid 2 centrally
in front of the tailgate seal. The assembly aid 2
keeps the tailgate slightly open, making instal-
lation easier.

To protect the paint surfaces affix the protecti-
ve films 1a, 1b, 1c and 1d as shown. Clean the
paint surface free of dirt and grease in area of
adhesion. Mark the positions of protective films
with e.g. adhesive labels (y) or tape.
Fig.
3
The top protective films 1a must be stuck
around the tailgate edge. Apply each protec-
tive film 1a with an overlap of approx. 10 mm
towards the roof. Fold the excess around the
edge with e.g. a cheque card z.
With the tailgate open rub firmly into place
from the inside.
Fig.
4
Apply the middle protective films 1b for the
carrier support directly below the rear window
and press firmly with the finger over the edge.
Apply the bottom protective films 1c around the
bottom tailgate edge with an overlap of 10 mm.
Stick the paint protection films 1d below film 1c
to protect the paint surface of the bumper.
Fig.
5
Remove assembly aid 2 and close the tailgate.
Attach each upper bracket plate 3+ 4 (left and
right – see sticker on the bracket plate) cen-
trally to the protective film 1a.
Re-fit assembly aid 2 centrally in front of the
tailgate seal.
Fig.
6
Unscrew hand-wheels 14 + 16 until approx.
30 mm of thread is visible. Now attach rear
rack to the upper bracket plates 3 + 4 with
support arms 17. Ensure that the middle
support 29 and lower bracket plates 36 are
positioned on the paint protection films 1c +
1d. Insert the middle support 29 in the gap bet-
ween the rear window and door panel.
Fig.
7
If necessary, unscrew the hand-wheels 14 +
16 further and attach lower bracket plates 36
to the lower tailgate edge. Tighten the hand-
wheels 14 +16 evenly until they give a noti-
ceable increased resistance.
After fitting remove assembly aid 2 and close
tailgate.

Loading bicycles:
Note:
Before loading remove child seats and loose
items such as drink bottles, saddlebags, etc.
Do not cover wheels with tarpaulins, protective
covers or similar.
Note:
Load heavier bicycle first.
Fig.
8
Fold down support frame 49, loosening wheel
strap 41 if necessary.
Pull out wheel rails 39 and tighten using clam-
ping nuts 45 . With children's bicycles it is
recommended to only partially pull out wheel
rails 39 so as not to impair the function of
wheel straps 41.
Swivel the long bicycle holder 7 (as shown
in figure) upwards and tighten with the hand-
wheel.
Note:
The loading and unloading of bicycles should
always be carried out by two people. Load the
heavier bicycle first.
Fig.
9
Load the first bicycle onto rear rack and secure
with the short bicycle holder 6.
Note:
The bicycle pedal on the vehicle side must
stand vertically upwards.
This provides maximum possible clearance to
rear window.
10
Fig.
Secure both bicycle wheels with the wheel
straps 41.
Ensure that the wheel strap is positioned cen-
trally between the wheel spokes so that it does
not chafe against the spokes.
11
Fig.
The second bicycle is placed the other way
round (handlebars to other side) and secured
with the long bicycle holder 7. Secure wheels
with the wheel straps 41.
ATTENTION:
Check fastenings and attachments before
each journey and after driving for a short peri-
od, re-tighten as necessary and re-check peri-
odically. Fastenings and attachments must be
checked more frequently when driving on poor
road surfaces.
Check clearance of rear window wiper. The
tailgate must not be opened when bicycles are
mounted.
Removing the bicycles:
Always unfasten the wheel straps 41 from the
wheels first, then unscrew the bicycle holders
6 / 7 and release from the frame.
12
Fig.
When driving with an unladen rear rack fold up
the support frame 49. Slide out the wheel rails
39 by approx. 6 cm, push both bicycle holders
6 + 7 to the middle and tie to the cross tube 22
with wheel strap 41.

Safety information:
Using the rear rack:
ATTENTION:
• In accordance with STVZO (road traffic
regulations), vehicle holders / drivers are
responsible for the condition and security of
the rear rack.
• The rear bicycle rack is intended only for
transporting bicycles.
• Check fastenings and attachments before
each journey and after driving for a short
period, re-tighten as necessary and re-check
periodically. Fastenings and attachments
must be checked more frequently when dri-
ving on poor road surfaces.
• Vehicle number plate and tail lights must not
be obscured by the rear rack and its load.
• The wheel straps 41 are subject wear during
use. They should be checked periodically
and replaced if necessary.
• When driving with an unladen rear rack
secure the support frames 39 with two wheel
straps 41 (see fig. L).
• When driving through entrances and passa-
ges take the change of vehicle height into
consideration.
Changes to vehicle handling:
ATTENTION:
• The handling / braking characteristics and
crosswind sensitivity of the vehicle changes.
Take this into consideration when driving. In
the interests of safety, do not drive at speeds
greater than 130 km/h.
• Stow heavy loads in the boot, as far to the
front as possible.
• Have the roadworthiness of the vehicle shock
absorbers checked annually as a preventati-
ve measure.
Caution:
• Observe your local, current regulations con-
cerning the use of rear racks.
• When traveling abroad, the regulations valid
in that country concerning the use of rear
racks must be observed.
Technical data:
• For 2 bicycles, max. load = 30 kg.
• Net weight: 6.8 kg
Care and storage:
Regularly apply anti-corrosion oil to moving
parts and threads of the rear rack. Clean
surfaces of rear rack with clean water and
preserve with a commercially available polish
as required.
For storage, fold in support frame and secure
with wheel strap. The rear rack can be hung
by the support frame flat against a wall using
two hooks.
