Instruction Notes
Please read these operating instructions and familiarize
yourself with the device before placing it in service.
You must observe the safety instructions for correct
and safe use.
For safety reasons, children and young people under
16 years of age, as well as people that cannot recognize
possible hazards, or who are not familiar with these
operating instructions may not use this device.
Please keep these operating instructions in a safe place!
If this device changes hands, then please include these
operating instructions along with the product. You will
find overview diagrams for assembly on the foldout
card at the front of the instructions.

2. Intended Use

The Icefree 20 keeps the surface of your garden pond
ice-free at one point, so that toxic fermentation gases
can escape. This occurs when warmer water from the
deeper regions is pumped directly to the water surface.

3. Safety instructions

CAUTION electrical shock hazard!
Unplug the power plug!
For your own safety, please contact an electrical
specialist for questions and problems!
Attention! Do not operate the device if cable or
housing are defective!
Attention! Do not operate the device if there are
people in the water Unplug power plug!
Attention! Always unplug the power plugs of all
devices in the water before reaching into the
water.
Compare the supply voltage (V) and the supply
frequency (Hz) of your mains power with the
data on the nameplate. These data must agree.
Only operate the device from a power outlet
installed as prescribed by directive with
protective earthing.

Operating Instructions
Never use installations, adapters, extension or
connecting cords without earthing contact!
Insure that the device is supplied via residual
power protection circuit with a rated residual current
of maximum 30 mA.
Electrical installations for garden ponds must
correspond to the international and national
construction determinations.
Never pull the device or carry the device by the
connecting cable.
Keep the power plug and all connecting points dry!
Lay out the connecting cable so that it is
protected, so that the possibility of damage is
excluded.
If you require an extension cord: Only use cable
that is approved for outdoor use. Protect the plug
connection from moisture.
Operating notes
Always unplug the power plug before opening the
hinged filter (2) for maintenance and repair work
Never pump any liquid other than water! The water
temperature may not exceed 35°C.
Never operate the pump without water (dry -run). The
pump bearings will be destroyed

4. Placing in service

The pump (1) must be freely suspended in clean
water app. 10-15 cm above the pond floor. Shorten
the hose (4) if required.
The Icefree 20 must be able to float freely: for this
the water must be at least 40 cm deep.
The pump (1) must not be suspended more than
1.0 m under the surface of the water.
The hinged filter (2) with the pump (1) must always
be located underneath the ice cover.
Ensure that the hose (4) is always stretched out,
so that the pump (1) can displace water without
obstruction.
Place the Icefree 20 in operation in good time when
frost is expected. Operate the Icefree 20
constantly at very low temperatures Check the
function regularly.
How to monitor the Icefree 20 (Fig.1)
1. Insert the sword (5) with the pointed side into the
free end of the hose (4).
2. Screw the float (6) onto the threads of the sword
(5) using the hole provided for the purpose.
