CARE

It is easy to care for and clean the
CEFAR IFC. Remember to:
• Store the stimulator and its accesso-
ries in the original case when not in
use.
• Never expose the stimulator to
water. Wipe with a damp rag if
necessary.
• The cords last longer if they are left
connected to the stimulator between
treatments.
• Do not pull on cords or connectors.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Warning
• People with implanted electronic
equipment, such as a pacemaker or
intracardial defibrillator, and child-
ren must not use the CEFAR IFC.
• Pregnant women should not be
treated with the CEFAR IFC during
the first trimester, and should
always consult a doctor, midwife or
physiotherapist before undergoing
treatment with the CEFAR IFC.
Pregnant women should not be trea-
ted over the uterus.
• Never stimulate on the front or side
of the neck, as this can lead to a
drop in blood pressure.

• Never stimulate transthoracically
(over the heart).
• Do not stimulate on the head (trans-
cranially).
• Do not apply stimulation while the
patient is connected to high-fre-
quency surgical equipment. This can
burn the skin under the electrodes
and damage the stimulator.
• Never stimulate in the vicinity of
metal implants. The increase in heat
can affect surrounding tissue negati-
vely.
• Place the electrodes on healthy skin
with normal sensitivity. Never stimu-
late over injured skin or where there
is suspicion of blood vessel damage,
thrombosis or hemorrhaging.
• Never use the stimulator in the
immediate vicinity of short-wave
or microwave equipment (such as a
mobile phone), which can affect the
output.
• Keep your CEFAR IFC out of the
reach of children.
Note
• Only use the stimulator with skin
electrodes intended for nerve and
muscle stimulation. See the electrode
package for instructions on usage.
• If skin irritation occurs, treatment
should be stopped temporarily. If
the problem persists, contact the
prescribing physician. Occasionally
patients demonstrate oversensitivity
to a tape or gel. Usually the problem
disappears when the gel or tape is
replaced with another type.
