10. Preparing the model
When using hard or hard-elastic material, the model is placed in the model cup 4 that has been filled with pellets to its upper sealing rim. When using
soft-elastic material, the model is placed on the model platform 6. Ensure in both cases that the front teeth are facing to the right in the direction of
the locking shaft 3 or to the left in the direction of the pressure chamber 2 in order to avoid a different material thickness between the quadrants.
11. Programming using the scanner or by entering the code or heating time
A three-digit code is assigned to all our pressure moulding blanks, containing all required information on temperature, heating and cooling time. This
code is printed in plaint text and as bar code on all our material except for material with a thickness of 0.1 mm or 0.15 mm. Once you have selected
the desired material, press the button "code/scan". The scanner P is now activated. Now present the bar code of the selected material under the
scanner until you hear an acoustic signal. You also have the option to enter the code manually: Enter the three digits and confirm by pressing "code/
scan" again. Another option is to enter the heating time manually. Doing so, press the key with the clock symbol Q, enter the required heating time
and confirm by pressing key Q again.
12. Heating
Once you have scanned, entered the code or the heating time, swivel the heater 1 over the fixed blank. The temperature will be automatically ad-
justed by a thermo element, which is visible by a change of the heater colour.
13. Thermoforming
Acoustic signals indicate the end of the heating process (+5 sec to 0 sec = beeps / 0 sec to -5 sec = continuous tone). Once 0 sec are reached, the
heater shall be swivelled backwards, upon reaching -5 sec, the heater is switched off automatically for safety reasons. Swivel the pressure chamber 2
by a 180° turn to the right (pay attention to clean sealing surfaces) and turn the locking shaft C 180° to the front. The pressure chamber is filled
with air and the cooling time starts automatically which is indicated by a blue LED.
14. Depressurizing
Optical signals (blue flashing LED) and acoustic signals (4 beeps) indicate the end of the cooling phase. Pressing the flashing button "air" depressur-
izes the pressure chamber, 4 further beeps after approx. 3 sec indicate the end of depressurizing. Turn now the locking shaft 3
180° backwards,
push the locking ring K
to the left and open the pressure chamber 2
. Once the model has been removed, the device can be used for the
next pressure moulding process.
15. Special programs for the use of the heating support
You have the option to program time intervals of 60/120/180/240 sec. For this, the pressure chamber shall be closed and the locking shaft shall be
opened. These time intervals can be used for heating and bonding the occlusal surfaces using the heating support (REF 3452). Once you have entered
the corresponding heating time, the heater with the attached heating support is swivelled forwards in the heating position. This operation can be car-
ried out several times depending on the material thickness.
16. Service/maintenance
The BIOSTAR
device is generally maintenance-free. Ensure however to control the air tube with the filter element for any kind of debris or moisture.
®
The filter element can be exchanged if necessary. The model cup 4 and the exhaust air holes as well as the model platform 6 can be cleaned by
means of air nozzle or steam jet. Ensure the reflective surfaces in the pressure chamber are always clean for optimum heating results. The aluminium
balancing ring L in the pressure chamber 2 can be removed for cleaning by tipping. Doing so, clean and grease the sealing surfaces, the lateral
sealing ring, the 4 rivets and springs. Make sure to refit the balancing ring on the springs and rivets with the sealing ring facing upwards. The whole
unit shall be freely movable (see also Troubleshooting Measures).
17. Service updates
The following applies to devices with serial numbers beginning with 70858 for the 230 V version, with 70527 for the 115 V version and with 70103
for the 100 V version:
You have received a registration card with your device. Once you are registered, you will be automatically informed about updates that can be
downloaded from our homepage https://www.scheu-dental.com/en/service/support-and-program/. In order to access the SD card (see fig. 4)
unscrew the cover on the left side of the device. Remove the SD card and erase any existing data or reformat your SD card. Extract the download file
on the computer and copy the subdirectories "data" and "fw" to a blank and formatted SD card. Insert the SD card in the service interface S on the
left side of the device. Refit the cover of the service interface on the device. The update for the SD card is now complete.
The following applies to devices with serial numbers beginning with 70001-70857 for the 230 V version, with 70001-70526 for the 115 V version
and 70001-70102 for the 100 V version:
In these cases, you can use a USB flash drive for the updates: Ensure to use a blank and formatted USB flash drive. Extract the download file on the
computer and copy the subdirectories "data" and "fw" to the USB flash drive. A video showing the procedure is available in the support area. Start
the device press the "ok" button 5 times. You are asked to enter the password for the info menu. Enter the digit 1 and confirm by pressing "ok".
By pressing the digit "1" again, the update starts. Once the update is complete, quit the service menu pressing the key "CE+home".
