Fan motor
- before carrying out any work on the
tower wait for it to cool down and
make sure the fan has come to a
complete standstill.
- do not carry out any operations unless
the power to the motor has been
removed beforehand
- do not operate the fan motor if the
protective mesh has been removed
for any reason.
N.B.
the protective mesh must not be
considered a guard in the sense of
the definition given in the machine
directive but a device for preventing
parts of the fan and its ferrule from
flying off.
- under no circumstances may the
inclination of the fan blades be
changed: this could cause electrical
input outside the values on the rating
plate, vibrations because the fan has
lost its balance, breakage of the motor
bearings and the blades.
Protection against Biological Risks
The recirculating water might contain
chemical products or biological
pollutants that could harmful if inhaled
or swallowed.
For this reason, persons exposed directly
to the delivery air flow and the relative
driven cloud during the course of the
water spraying system operation and/or
any compressed air used for cleaning
must wear a protective mask covering
the nose and mouth approved by the
competent authorities and/or according
to directive 89/686/CEE.
WARNING!
All the maintenance operations must
be performed by skilled personnel
or by the manufacturer using safety
procedures at all times.
Maintenance of the casing
The casing, in its entirety does not

require any maintenance.
Any cleaning can be done simply
by washing with soap and water or
detergents.
You are advised not to use solvents
however.
Any breaks in the fibreglass parts can
be remedied by requesting the relevant
repair KIT and carefully following the
instructions for use.
Maintenance of the fan motor assembly
As shown above, the axial fan motor
assembly does not require any particular
maintenance.
You are however advised to make a
periodic inspection of the fan motor
assembly so as to point up any faults
such as vibrations, excessive noise,
excessive motor input power or blade
breaking in good time.
Maintenance of the filling
body
The filling body (or heat exchange
package) does not require any particular
maintenance other than the proper
treatment of the top up water.
It is however good practice to make
periodic checks of its state of repair
through visual inspections through the
windows (if there are any) or through
the bottom of the tower (air intake vents
or auxiliary tank) in order to check:
the build up of dirt, encrustation or the
presence of biofilm.
Also remember that deposits in the
exchange pack of any nature vastly
increase the weight of the pack itself
(even tenfold), and they can damage the
relative support even seriously.
For this reason, when deposits are
detected you are advised to stop the
system and replace the heat exchanger
pack.
Maintenance of the filling
drop separator
L i k e t h e f i l l i n g m a t e r i a l , t h i s
element does not require particular
maintenance.
You are only advised periodically to
check how clean the panels are and
that they are ordered properly in their
place without openings between one
panel and the next.
IMPORTANT !
If the filling body and the drop
separator are substituted, you are
advised to use material that is the
same as the original so as not alter the
performance of the tower and on the
air side pressure drop with possible
consequent damage to the fan motor
assembly.
Maintenance of the water distribution
system
Check visually that the system does
not contain dirt or debris; repeat the
check shown in the "PUTTING INTO
OPERATION" chapter.,.
Maintenance of the splash guard fins
(only versions with a tank)
The splash guard fins on the air intake
vents have been made of pultruded
fibreglass and do not require any
particular maintenance.
You should just check to make sure that
the gaps between the fins are always
free and not clogged up with foreign
bodies. (e.g.: newspaper pages) in
such a way that the air intaken by the
ventilator enters the tower unimpeded.
Maintenance of the floating
cock (only with versions with a tank)
Carry out the following checks/
operations frequently:
- check that the floating cock opens
before the level of the tank is too
low for the pump to work so that the
pump does not take in air (this check
must be carried out with the tower
and pump working)
- check that the floating cock closes
before the drainage level reaches
overflow and above all that it closes
with the tower and pump at a
standstill so as to avoid a waste of
water.
- periodically grease the moving parts of
