1 – FIRST START-UP
Carry out this procedure when the watermaker is started for the first time, or during restart after a general stop of many days. (Notably,
following a procedure of preservation: biocide in the membranes)
Carrying out the start up procedure, and then returning the report form located at the end of this booklet to the factory (duly
completed, dated and signed), are MANDATORY TO THE APPLICATION OF GUARANTEE. Never start the watermaker in a polluted
area: oil will clog membranes and chlorine will destroy membranes (risk not covered by the guarantee).
1.
Check tightening of all water system fittings.
2.
Check the presence of the cartridge in the filter. The center of the 5µ cartridge is of green color.
3.
Check tightening of electrical connections.
4.
Check that the electrical voltage supplied corresponds with that of the AQUA-BASE unit, and that the available power-feed is
sufficient.
5.
Open the seawater inlet valve (V0) and the reject (R).
6.
Put the valve (1) in seawater-feed position, and the valve (11) must be in the reject position (back to the sea).
7.
Open the air bleed valve (7) of the hydraulic amplifier (6).
8.
For the first starts-up (during the first 10 minutes of functioning), disconnect the production valve (14) to eliminate any track of
sodium métabisulfite present in the membrane and the device (storage manufactures): for this remove the screw of the little box of
the valve (14) and removing the connection.
9.
Put the unit ON by tilt the main breaker on "1". Start the unit by pushing the "ON" (green) button (30). Check immediately that the
seawater flow has been established.
10. Check that the seawater arrives at the filter. If this is not the case, review the feed piping and eliminate any water leakage and
trapped air.
WARNING: THE UNIT MUST NOT OPERATE DRY FOR MORE THAN 15 SECONDS.
11. Leave the prefiltration and the amplifier working for 5 minutes before closing the air bleed valve (7). Check that the system has been
perfectly bled and that there are no air bubbles in the system. Check that there are no leaks in the system.
12. Shut the air bleed valve (7), the pressure increases progressively in the system up to 40 / 60 bar (depends version). The production
of fresh water is stable after a few minutes.
13. During the first 10 minutes the water is evacuated in the discharge (because the valve 14 is disconnected). At the end of 10
minutes, re-connect the valve (14) to tilt the valve in production towards the fresh water tank.
14. Report the start-up operations on the form found at the end of the book p51. Return the copy back to the factory.
2 – NORMAL STARTING
1.
Open the hull seawater valve (VO) and the reject (R).
2.
Check that the strainer (2) and the 5µ filter are not clogged.
3.
Put the inlet valve (1) towards the pump.
4.
Put the cleaning valve (11) in reject position.
5.
Put the unit ON by tilt the main breaker on "1". Start the unit by pushing the "ON" (green) button (30). (If there is no brine rejection
and seawater circulation, again start bleeding the system: bleed the pump and the hydraulic amplifier). See first start-up.
6.
After a few minutes, check that the AQUA-BASE unit is operating and that the production is correct (lighting-up of the green led
indicator lamp (33) of the salinometer).
