Welcome
Operate in 4 Easy Steps
1. Fill with Gas
We recommend you fill you iolite with commercially available, high-quality butane cigarette
lighter gas – no other fuel type should be used. Make sure the 0-1 switch is at the "0" position
before filling. Fill only in a well-ventilated area. Do not refill your iolite near a naked flame or
combustible products. Adaptors are normally required when re-filling.
To fill, hold vertically with the gas input valve upwards as illustrated. Push the gas re-fill
cylinder down onto the filling valve. The flow of gas from the re-fill cylinder to the unit
depends on gravity. Stop filling when the gas spills from the valve and do not overfill.
In the event of overfilling, you must allow a period of 5 minutes before switching on.
We only recommend Vector Gas and Newport Gas.
To aid ignition, for 1st gas fill and subsequent fills where your iolite™ has run completely out
of gas, we recommend switching on the gas flow for 10-15 seconds approx (until you can
hear a strong gas flow) before attempting to ignite.
2. Prepare Pipe Tobacco/Plant Material
For optimum results we recommend you grind pipe tobacco/plant material before use.
Then place into the filling chamber as illustrated. Do not over pack, otherwise airflow will be
impeded. Place the filling chamber onto your iolite unit and turn it on.
After each use, the filling chamber will become hot to touch. Be careful when emptying
or refilling with pipe tobacco/plant material directly after use. In general, used dried pipe
tobacco/plant material tips easily out of the chamber, whereas moist pipe tobacco/plant
material may stick from time to time. Material that doesn't readily fall out should be gently
removed with a wooden toothpick or something similar. Take care not to damage the
screens.
