WARNING: Be cautious not to lose or damage the rubber
gasket and mesh filter that sit between the sediment cup and
the main valve body.
3. Empty the sediment cup and clean with fresh petrol or a
suitable cleaning solution
4. If you need to drain petrol from the Fuel Tank (20), you can
now place a suitable container underneath the Fuel Shut-
Off Valve, and open the valve to let the petrol flow into the
container. This may be necessary for storage or transport
5. If you wish to drain fuel from the carburettor, place a
suitable container, e.g. a bowl, under the carburettor,
and open the Carburettor Drain Plug (12). This may be
necessary for storage or transport, or if you experience
starting difficulties due to contaminated fuel. Refit the
Carburettor Drain Plug when finished
6. Inspect the rubber gasket and mesh filter. Replace if
damaged
7. Refit the sediment cup to the Fuel Shut-Off Valve with
the gasket and mesh filter in between, and tighten with
the spanner
WARNING: DO NOT overtighten, as this could damage the
rubber gasket and Fuel Shut-Off Valve.
8. Close the Fuel Shut-Off Valve when finished
WARNING: After refitting the sediment cup, check for
leaks and make sure fuel did not spill on to engine or other
generator parts before starting the engine.

Changing the engine oil

WARNING: Engine oil is a major pollutant and MUST NOT
be allowed to enter the environment. Dispose of according to
local laws and regulations.
WARNING: Used engine oil can cause dermatitis and other
skin disorders, including skin cancer, if repeatedly left in
contact with skin for prolonged periods of time. Wear suitable
gloves and thoroughly wash your hands and other exposed
skin with soap and water as soon as possible after handling
used oil.
Note: Engine oil is best drained when the engine is still warm. If the engine is cool, start and
let run for a few minutes, before changing the oil. This will lead to more rapid and complete
draining.
WARNING: Take special care not to touch hot engine parts, especially the exhaust.
1. Ensure the Engine Switch (1) is in the 'OFF' position
2. Remove the dipstick from the Engine Oil Fill Point (8) by rotating it anticlockwise
3. Wipe the dipstick clean, and put aside
4. Place a suitable container, e.g. a plastic bowl, under the oil drain plug (see image), and
remove the plug with a suitable spanner (not included)
5. Slightly elevate the opposite side of the generator to tilt the device slightly towards the
drain plug opening. This will enable the entire oil to drain from the engine
6. Refit the oil drain plug and tighten securely with the spanner
7. Refer to 'Filling with engine oil' for information on refilling

Storage

WARNING: Ensure the Engine Switch (1) is in the 'OFF' position, and the Fuel Shut-Off Valve
(17) shut, before transporting or storing the generator.
Transporting the generator
This generator provides transportation handles on both sides. Due to its weight, the
device should always be carried by two people
Keep the generator level to prevent fuel spillage
WARNING: Spilled fuel or fuel vapours may ignite and lead to fire and explosions. Clean up
spilled fuel or oil immediately, to prevent it from entering the environment.
Storing the generator
Store carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children
If storing long-term, drain the entire fuel system as described in 'Cleaning the sediment
cup / draining the fuel system'
Preparation for long-term storage
Whenever the machine is out of use for an extended period
of time, proceed as follows:
1. Give the unit an overall cleaning and a thorough check
2. Clean the air filter as described in 'Maintaining the air filter'
3. Change the engine oil as described in 'Changing the
engine oil'
4. Drain the fuel system as described in 'Cleaning the
sediment cup / draining the fuel system'
5. Remove the Spark Plug Cap (10) and spark plug, fill about a spoon full of engine oil into
the cylinder through the spark plug hole, and pull the recoil starter gently two to three
times to distribute the oil evenly. Replace the spark plug and Spark Plug Cap
6. Slowly pull the Recoil Starter Cord (16) just until resistance is felt. At this point, the piston
is coming up on its compression stroke, and both the intake and exhaust valves are
closed. Storing the engine in this position will help prevent internal corrosion
7. Protect all metal parts from corrosion by coating them with oil or a machinery preservative
