Introduction
Compliance with recommendations that follow hereafter, will
result in al longer life and better performance of the electric
anchor windlass.
- Regularly carry out the indicated maintenance checks.
- Only apply a chain, the type and dimensions of which, are
specifically suited for the gipsy.
Operation
Letting go of the chain
Disengage the chain from the chainstopper (K).
Turn the clutch nut (C) to the left by means of the lever; the
chain will now start running out.
At this moment the cone-coupling in the gipsy simultaneously
functions as a brake; by turning the clutch-nut to the right the
speed of the run out of the chain wil diminish.
Engage the clutch-nut (C) by turning it to the right if there is
enough chain to let go of.
Engage the chain on the chainstopper (K).
Never lie the ship at anchor with only the chain engaged in
the gipsy.
Hauling in the chain
Ensure that the clutch-nut (C) is engaged by turning it to the
right.
Replace the chain in the gipsy, when this has been taken out
while making anchorage, and disengage the chain from the
chainstopper (K).
Place the lever in the wheel (H) and move the lever up and
down.
Pay attention to the fact that the drum will rotate along.

Warping
Ensure that the chain is engaged in the chainstopper (K). To
uncouple the gipsy from the main shaft by turning the clutch-nut
(C) 1/2 revolution to the left.
Fit the lever in the wheel (H) and move lever back and forth, the
hauling drum will now revolve.
Maintenance
The gearwheel transmission of the anchorwindlass is 'lubricat-
ed for life' (Agip GRMU/EP 0; grease on the basis of lithium
soap and anticorrosive additives).
The following maintenance checks must be carried out at least
once a year:
- On the gipsy side:
Disengage the clutch-nut, grease the screwthread of the
shaft end and again engage the clutch-nut.
- On the hauling drum side:
Remove bolt and take off the hauling drum.
Grease the shaft end and the hauling drum surface.
Now replace the hauling drum and re-tighten bolt.
Lubricant to be applied: multipurpose Lithium grease no. 2
(Outboard gear grease).
When sailing on sea-water it is recommended to rinse the
anchor windlass regularly with fresh water.
Important: The hexagonal bolt head on the top of the anchor
winch is not an oil filler cap.
