2.1

Intended Use

The SMA Data Manager M is a data logger that acts as a PV system gateway and energy
manager. PV system components and PV systems are integrated together with energy generators
and loads into the SMA infrastructure and I/O systems and meters via the Ethernet interface. In the
process, the SMA Data Manager M is supporting communication with up to 25 devices such as PV
inverter, battery inverter and energy meter and also up to three I/O systems. The number of
supported devices can be extended optionally.
The product is designed for indoor use only.
All components must remain within their permitted operating ranges and their installation
requirements at all times.
