HOSE CONNECTIONS
CONNECTING HOSES
Always stop the hydraulic power source flow before
connecting a tool. Failure to comply could lead to
serious personal injury.
1)
Stop the hydraulic power source.
2) Depressurize the system.
3)
Allow system and hydraulic fluid to cool.
4)
Remove the protective dust cap from the
cutter's hydraulic fitting (where applicable).
5)
Securely connect the hydraulic power supply
hose to the tool.
DISCONNECTING HOSES
Always stop the hydraulic power source flow before
disconnecting a tool. Failure to comply could lead
to serious personal injury.
1) Stop the hydraulic power source.
2)
Depressurize the system.
3) Allow the system and the hydraulic fluid to
cool.
4) Disconnect the supply hose from the tool.
5) Reinstall the protective dust cap onto the
cutter's hydraulic fitting (where applicable).
PRE-OPERATION
The information provided in this
section is essential for the safe
handling and proper operation of
BURNDY Remote hydraulic
cutters. The operator must read
and follow these instructions and
ALL safety warnings and labels
before operating these tools.
Blades must be cleaned and inspected for fine
cracks or damage before each use. Blades with
cracks or damage may break during frequent use
or when subjected to high cutting pressures. Re-
place damaged blades immediately to avoid seri-
ous personal injury.
1)
Clean blades of dirt and oils with a dry, clean
cloth.
2)
Cutting blades have a finite life expectancy.
Carefully inspect each blade for fine cracks.
A stress crack will normally develop after
extended use of the tool.
3)
Immediately replace any blade exhibiting the
possible formation of a stress crack.
4)
Visually inspect the blade for nicks or
notches. Use a sharpening stone to smooth
minor flaws of the cutting blade to enhance
the cutting action.
5)
Replace blades that have damaged cutting
surfaces to improve the cutting operation and
to reduce blade and tool stress.
