4.4 -
Volt measurement
It is possible to use this instrument as ordinary voltmeter to measure voltages by
means of the volt cable.
The measurement value will be displayed on the VOLT display.
4.5 -
Peak volt measurement
This test is used to measure the peak volt value of the signal out from each type of
magnetic booster or electronic ignition.
Causes for incorrect values:
•
Interrupted wiring.
•
Wrong air gap.
•
Defective sensor.
•
Clean the sensor or the phonic wheel.
•
Defective ignition.
•
Defective coil.
Check of magnetic boosters
•
Disconnect the booster connection cable.
•
Connect a pole to the cable to the volt red clamp (13) after the grounding of the
other pole by means of the cable on issue with the Timing Light (19)
(see picture d).
•
Try the starting for 5/10 sec.
•
Measure the value on the display and compare it to the manufacturer's data.
ATTENTION:
Do not connect the red clamp (13) to the coil negative (switch). Voltage is
too high for the voltmeter.
