5.1. Safety valves mounting instructions
A safety valve is mounted on the cold water inlet, with neither shut off nor throttle fittings nor filters allowed to be
placed between the inlet and the heater.
The safety valve must be easily accessible, and the feed-pipe nearest to the heater must have an inside diameter not
less than the safety valve. The safety valve is supposed to be placed at the height sufficient for the free surplus water
discharge. We recommend mounting the safety valve on the branch going out over the heater. This way of
replacement is easier, because there is no need of water drain from the vessel. Only safety valves with a fixed by the
manufacturer predefined pressure rate. The safety valve starting pressure should be congruent to the maximum
permitted pressure rate of the heater and at least 20% higher than the maximum pressure rate in the water supply
system. It is necessary to mount a reducing valve into the system, if the pressure rate in supplying piping exceeded
the above-mentioned value.
Please, find the nominal pressure rates in the chart below

A check valve must be mounted in the intake piping in order to provide for the proper functioning of the safety
valve.
The check valve prevents a spontaneous heater vessel discharge and a hot water leakage again to the water supply
system.
Protection facility should be mounted in compliance with the relevant standards.
